I am a liberal but 30k in taxes, not capital gains or anything just income, its a bit much.
I can agree with you. Me buying the federal government a nice new car every year is irritating. I am so tired of the stepping over dollars to get pennies mentality of the right. So I give a kid (maybe illegal, but still hungry) a free lunch at school. They choose to howl about that but remain silent as billions of dollars of our money is handed over to large institutions, military contractors and FIRE companies.
God, AnCaps are a hoot!
What do you call the Interstate system, plus all those paved roads with "U.S." in front of their numerical designations? The government contracts out their construction, true enough, but to claim that "the government doesn't build roads" is a matter of semantics and nit-picking. The government finances road construction and maintenance, and advertises for construction bids. Our federal tax dollars are used for that purpose.
BTW, have you ever driven down the Blue Ridge Parkway? Before you scoff at "government" roads and parks, check it out. The CCC boys also had a great deal to do with its construction, and once again, they were paid (and housed and clothed and fed) by the federal government.
The government doesn't actually build them--that's the whole point. Why not just cut out the middle man? Roads would be in much better shape if they were privately owned and maintained.
Hope you enjoy your life in this country that OTHERS have sacrificed for YOU to start it and keep it.
If you dislike the U.S. and its Constitution and way of doing things, why don't you move to somewhere more agreeable with your opinions?
Just out of curiosity, where would that be?
No one has sacrificed anything to protect the freedom of the United States since the War of 1812.
True heroes are entrepreneurs and others who create wealth and jobs. Capitalists.
Why do Statists always tell people who desire liberty to leave what is supposedly the land of the liberty? What's wrong with trying to make the country better?

You just can't 'build a road'. You need centralized planning and design. Road planning runs out about 20 years into the future and since it's pretty self evident that roads need to be interconnected, nearly everything about them has to be planned for. Ergo the need for the government to be involved.

We tried that. Didn't work very well for folks who couldn't afford the tolls.
We also tried having those whose property lined said roads be responsible for the maintenance of the adjacent sections. That didn't work very well, either - elderly folks were not able to do the work themselves and often couldn't afford to hire it out. Some landowners were lazy. Others did the work haphazardly.
Read up on domestic U.S. history, aka Early American history of the early 19th century for more info. about how public roads i.e., government build and maintained - came to be. It's quite well-documented.
BTW, Early American statesman and patriot Henry Clay was a great advocate of public roads in the interests of the common good of the people, back in the day. It's not a new idea.
This is a sad day for all taxpayers. For everyone else, they don't give a crap....because they are the ones getting a free ride or getting money stolen from others.
Taxes are not theft. Taxes are the fee for participating in civilization.
Do you want military protection, police protection, fire service, sewage treatment, clean safe water, electricity, a highway system, and so on? If you do, then pay your taxes with a smile.
