What's your reasoning behind allocating political influence based on land size instead of population?

Some people will be shocked to know this, but San Diego is the second largest city in the state, not San Francisco.
Besides this will never happen, ever.

States are regarded in size by population, not square miles within them

If states were either merged or divided, according to population, the Republicans would lose at least a dozen senators and the Democrats would gain about 6 to 8. There'd be about 95 or 96 total, with the Democrats holding close to 2/3 of them. That's the way it would be, if there was equal representation in this country. The rednecks would no longer be able to exert such a toxic influence on the whole nation.

The only advantage is purely political, nothing more.

Want a better education system, lower taxes, and safer roads in California?

I would love to know just how splitting the state accomplishes that! It's like a miracle, we split the state and we will be awash in money, everyone will have "LOWER TAXES?" and safer roads and a better education system (you mean the public school system will be abolished?) -- and there will be two cars in every driveway, and cheaper energy, and there will be no more homeless people pooping in the streets!

If you're going to make promises you intend to break you might as well shoot for the fences.

Now that required a snorting Marge Simpson laugh!

"Donate"? Lets not and say we didn't.

Not spending tax money on drivers licenses for illegals, paying for illegal aliens legal fees, bullet train, intentionally putting blocks between local and federal LE, etc.

if this does happen, would it be possible to for Americas 51 states to kick #52 (LA and SAN FRAN) out of the nation?
