There were some extremes but the issue is that they kill the bill and do nothing. Complain about a housing crisis, shoot down a bill trying to alleviate it then proceed to sit on their hands about it.

Left-leaning independent here, and I'm furious about this dying at committee.
This is a very contentious subject. Don't mischaracterize this as representing any form of consensus in the state.
If anything, this is often a generational split. Or a homeowner vs. non-homeowner split.
As someone who can afford the state, it's not about people like me. It's about the middle class. My friends and family, the people continually getting priced out of the region.
Our income inequality trajectory doesn't look good right now, if we continue down this path.

Every big money developers want SB827, but the Dems sided with the low income residents who didn't want change. They sided with the people over the money, bravo; but sometimes I wish they are a little more corrupt like the Republicans.

I actually think it's more the opposite, many of the wealthiest communities in CA fought the hardest against SB827.
They don't want change in their communities. Especially change that will bring their real estate values down.

It's the opposite. As long as there is no development, prices will continue to rise til' Los Angeles is exclusively a rich man's playground.
