Not to be mean spirited but this thread is about Cohen's abilities as an attorney
Not whether he will flip or not
A thread like that was closed already
I would like this to stay open
I am interested in the legal strategies that are at work and succeed or fail in SDNY or the California Clifford case
This is the filing Michael Cohen made to appeal his TRO
https://www.courtlistener.com/recap/...1943.6.0_1.pdf
Note he makes reference to some things not accurate--
Like Cohen had totally complied and cooperated with other investigations--
Not True--
In fact Cohen broadcasted that he has not provided info requested because he thought it was "too broad"--a claim that others in Trump's circle have used to avoid providing documentation
Cohen also had an arrangement with a "white shoe" law firm Squire Patton Boggs that was supposed to provide him office space although not use of the firm's computer network--no sharing of files
Cohen was supposed to help bring clients into the firm obviously because they thought Cohen had access to Trump and could grant patronage--
they paid him 500K UPFRONT on that assumption vs him paying for use of the office space and getting percentage of the new clients' fees he brought in--
firm got suckered cause Cohen brought no new clients apparently
But he tried to use this arrangement as proof he was an active/working attorney to shed more cover of attorney-client priviledge to shield his files...
The emptywheel link discusses Cohen's attorney in CA--Blakely--who is photographed with Preet Bharara several years ago when Bharara was closing the Moreland Commission--the one Gov Cuomo set up to investigate political crime in Albany and then closed 6 mo later wo any significant cases brought against politicians...
The implication being that there is something wonky between Cohen and Blakely or Blakely and maybe the SDNY even though he is handling Cohen's defense in CA...
