There’s no reason for him to be there. It isn’t customary and the Bushes hate him. This is a non-story.

They're not the President. Thank God. Guess you haven't read the typical protocol of the President for these things. Trump is President, not the Clintons, nor Obamas.

Full disclosure - I am not a supporter of Trump and am not defending him.

As noted, this is a non-story. Sitting Presidents do not go to the funerals of former First Ladies unless they were close personal friends. The current and former First Ladies do go and often former Presidents.

When Obama didn't go to Nancy Reagan's, the same "outrage" came from the conservative side of the aisle.

Just let it go folks. If the President skips the funeral of a former President, then the hate can flow.

So Melania will attend while he works hard this weekend at Mar-A-Lago !
Of course if he did attend you'd be the first one to cross post articles how he entered the room, how he got of his car, did Melania rebuff him, and if you're lucky somebody will snap of picture of his hair in the wind. Besides, what do you care?

First Lady Melania Trump will attend the funeral.

Aside from her husband and son, other former presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama will be at Saturday's service.
Former first ladies Hillary Clinton, Laura Bush and Michelle Obama will also attend.

And if he would be attending, then you would be complaining about that too.
Leave the man alone.
He obviously wasn't close to the Bush's -- why waste the day going to the funeral.

Clinton - Obama - Bush = The Establishment.

Trump = Not The Establishment.

See the difference?

I'm glad he isn't going. The man is so dumb he would try to make the day all about him. He would find some way to get in a shot at the Bushes.

Bill Clinton is very close to the elder Bushes. They worked together on some cause...I forget what.

I hope she wears sneakers when she boards the plane to fly there
President Obama was scheduled to give the keynote speech at the South by Southwest Conference at the same time as Mrs. Reagan's funeral. His wife went and she along with all the other first ladies attended Betty Ford's funeral as is custom. I would think it would be uncomfortable for the Bush family to have Mr. Trump at Barbara's funeral, given recent history but it's not without tradition for him not to go. (Though it would have been thoughtful to postpone the golf game and stay inside for a few hours.) Glad Melania will do her duty and get away from the pressure of living with Donald for awhile. She always looks like hostage Patty Hearst.

It’s funny how one minute Obama is a radical socialist, and the next minute he’s the establishment. Whatever the right ones to rail against, that’s what Obama is.
