I don't think you have spent the time when it comes to NASA space missions, Juno sent back some amazing pictures of Jupiter, they discovered what appears to be remnants of water on Mars and they plan to launch a space telescope this year which I understand Trump wants to cancel. James web telescope, Parker mission to the sun. But somehow all you see are Muslims.

Tell me is climate change important or is NASA getting side tracked, is there a replacement atmosphere plan B?

Do you even know who Obama chose to head NASA?

imo, i believe it is a good thing that they do. However, a person doesn't have to have knowledge of 'science' in order to hire those that do.

An admin needs to know how to delegate and hire those to delegate to ...

Example, we have a president that hasn't a background in government or political government (etc.), yet he is president just the same. Trump has an excellent background in sales and it shows.

Default Trump’s next NASA administrator is a Republican congressman with no background in science

Maybe he has an advanced degree in Muslim self-esteem???

But Bridenstine hasn't shown exceptional skills in that area, either. He hasn't come up inside NASA ranks. He hasn't administered anything larger than the Tulsa Air and Space museum non-profit - and not too well. His technical background isn't what you'd call impressive. He's an elected official, and that raises a whole slew of problems with what is supposed to be a bipartisan job.

There has been no attempt to provide a seasoned Deputy Administrator to ease him along. (Yet another Trump administration vacancy. Chief of Staff is unfilled, as well.)

Obama appointed people to posts who had no experience in that department. I haven't time to read this whole thread in case it's been mentioned already.

Certainly not NASA, Dept of Energy or EPA, you cant defend this appointment and your defense is "Obama"?

NASA is a monetary black hole no matter who heads it up, best to just disband it. The private sector will pick up any slack.

Completely disagree. Yes, huge portions of NASA has lost sight of the objective; Yes, there's a colossal amount of porkbarrel spending; Yes, the private sector is currently building lift vehicles that are better and cheaper.

But: The basic building blocks of aerospace research, right out on the edge, is NASA's home turf and no private enterprise is going to operate there. Mars rovers and space telescopes and probes to the interesting corners of the solar systems aside, NASA is where exotic engine designs and material science and aeronautic foundational research is - or should be - taking place. Because we can, as a nation, undertake long-odds research that the private sector may not want to take on. I want NASA to get back into X-craft - handbuilt and expensive and accident-prone because they're pushing limits. If things aren't blowing up, NASA isn't doing their job.

SpaceX wouldn't be launching anything if they hadn't had NASA research results to lean on.

For anyone ok with this, would you hire a CEO who has no experience in that field? If not, why the different standard here?
