I don't know about you, but I want A WELL-REGULATED MILITIA.
Since others have explained the 1700's meaning of "regulated", you really don't want that. Most of us are too busy working and/or spending time with family to practice regularly. The couple of times a group of us from AR15.com got together for training, it was great. Turns out that we pretty much agree on rolling back gun control to pre 1934 laws. We could come up with a lot of ideas if we were forced to train regularly.
He's also suing Hawaii for never issuing a concealed carry permit too. Dude is busy as a bee.
I'll bet there are 87 arfcommers at City Data.
I got in on round 3 of the fund raiser.
If he ever makes it up to the north part of MS for a get together, I'm going to meet him. I rarely have time to stop when I am driving through Jackson.
It's not "the right of the militia to bear arms shall not be infringed", it's the right of the people.
if the words were: "A well educated legislature being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear books shall not be infringed." would you argue the writer's intention is that only lawmakers should have access to books?
...or would you accept the obvious, that people in general should have access to books because they want a large, educated pool of candidates to pick legislators from?
That's the original idea with the 2A; the government needed a militia for defense, so it was important to have a large pool of guys in the general public who had guns and knew how to use them. Therefore, the people have the right to bear arms... and today's Supreme Court agreed (Heller) even though the concept of a milita is effectively obsolete.
The milita is just a stated reason why the people have the right to bear arms and has no bearing or stipulation on that right. In the end, the argument has already been settled... the 2nd Amendment is STILL the law of the land and if anyone doesn't like it they should be trying to get a Constitutional Convention going to change it.
The United States Militia, is the largest armed fighting force on planet earth.
There is a good reason, we have never been invaded, successfully

In terms of rhe Sig MCX used by the Orlando shooter, among it's listed users are United States Special Operations Command and the Netherlands Maritime Special Operations Forces (The Netherlands Marine Corps).
As for other military use M16 and M4 rifles as they are nothing but the fully automatic version of the AR-15, whilst the AR-10 is the basis for the British Army's L129A1 which were supplied by US Company Lewis Manchine Tools, who also supplied the British Transport Police specialist firearms unit with the LMT Defender based on the AR-15.

This has nothing to do with the subject of this thread.
They hope to accomplish better gun laws, that don't let derranged people such as Omar Mateen have access to military grade weaponry such as the Sig MCX he used to kill a lot of 49 people he murdered in a Florida noghtclub.

We are out in the desert on a regular basis with BP on speed call. I have a "military grade" Ford truck

Again with the emotional media buzzwords? Just about all firearms are "military grade", including shotguns which are used by many militaries, including the U.S. armed forces. Then enact laws that address mental health, Muslim terrorism, and black on black crime.
