It’s not just about Kanye but the idea that he may represent a crack in the party line thinking. If someone like Kanye (or maybe even Kim Kardashian) supports Trump, then how many more people like them are out there but are afraid to openly admit it?

It’s all about the silent majority coming out of their cognitive dissonance.

There is a lot of bullying going on with both the dems and the GOP. That is one reason I belong to neither of them.

However the left takes the bullying to a new level when a black person dares to speak out for Trump or is a conservative. I actually had a white liberal friend once tell that black people had to vote dem because the dems were the reason civil rights legislation got passed. How sad.

What I am seeing here is a complete lack of anyone on the left supporting Kanye's right to say what he wants. Outside of his wife. But both sides do it. They only want people to speak their mind when they are saying what they agree with.

I agree with this. It's like as soon as he supported Trump, he's getting labeled as crazy. Chance The Rapper also tweeted about Blacks don't have to be Democrats and he got attacked too. It's actually very eye opening and is something that I've been seeing for quite a while now. If you're a black person and say that you don't hate Trump, you get labeled as crazy or a Tom, which is annoying.

I didn't vote for either candidate, yet when I say I don't hate Trump, I've been called a coon, Tom, you name it just because I find it silly to randomly hate a person.

Liberals rarely spend this much time and effort on things that they do not deem a threat to their lifestyle.
And, yet... the "liberals" are not alone in this thread, talking to themselves. And... it wasn't started by one.

Of course there are black people who voted for Trump. Whether most of them still support him is another matter... same goes for anyone else who voted for him.

People tend to assume that minority voters and women voters won't vote against their best interests.

They sort of know that poor, rural white folks have a habit of voting against their interests for social issues and people are used to this sort of behavior, especially from southern voters. No surprises there.

So, yeah... it does surprise people when a black man or woman is so open about their alleged support of Trump. But... it doesn't mean that people don't fully well realize that there ARE black people who voted for him.

Kanye didn't vote for anyone.

There SHOULD BE a million cracks in "party-line thinking." It's silly to align with a party like you would with a sports team.

I'm going to suggest that you still don't like him much, since you don't seem to know his actual name.

I'll go on record, sonny... I have always suspected that Kanye had some mental issues.

I do not think he's crazy, though. "Crazy" is something reserved for folks who shoot people while naked at Waffle House or something.

Not for a bipolar guy's manic cycle tweets.

One thing that stays consistent with Kanye - he does/says whatever he feels like doing/saying and doesn't really give a damn about how it's received.

A hallmark of the truly independent thinker, even if it's just for selling that image, is pissing off people on both sides of the aisle equally, and Kanye has certainly figured that out. Conservatives hate on him for the Katrina thing, liberals hate on him for the Candace Owens thing, and half the world hated on him for dissing Taylor Swift.

Pretty good track record of Kanye doing whatever da_fuq Kanye pleases. No particular fan of his music or most of his antics, but I'll give the independent thinker/actor credit for being independent where due.

When folks in the entertainment industry go against the hysterical orthodoxy, it's a good thing. I don't much care what the orthodoxy is, I just like when individuals eschew the mindless parroting of it. Good art comes not from group conformity, but from individual vision. Regardless of Kanye's position, I hope his commentary does indeed unlock a few more "mental prisons" and result in more artists reclaiming their individuality, thus making better art.

The left likes to group people together based on their ethnicity, gender or sexual orientation and expects them to vote as one block. The ones that stray from that model are bullied.

What in your opinion exactly is in a black persons best interest? Are you assuming that most black people are poor and need government assistance and high taxes to support those programs? A middle class or above black person of which Kanye West is part of, how are they personally harmed by Trump's policy decisions?

There was some things that Trump said that I agreed with as well has Hillary. However there were much more things that Johnson said that I agreed with so I voted for Johnson.

People should independently vote for what is in their own personal best interests not vote a certain way because of the color of their skin.
