Most people (including me) felt that Obama did not deserve one. I dont know what he thought, but he did donate all of the 1.4 million he got from it to charity.
If Trump won 1.4 million for any kind of prize, he would donate it to his own charity and then spend it on having paintings and statues made of himself.
Obama did do something. He ended the "Bush Doctrine," which means use pre-emptive military strikes prior to diplomacy. So yes, Obama did shift the U.S. away from an aggressive war stance and more towards peace.

If Trump is able to secure de-nuclearization and a real peace on the Korean peninsula, he deserves a whole host of statues being erected in his honor -- including one next to King Sejong the Great on Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul.

Are they going to be next to the other POTUS's who achieved de-nuclearization in Korea?
"Under the 1994 Agreed Framework, the U.S. government agreed to facilitate the supply of two light water reactors to North Korea in exchange for North Korean disarmament" (We need a Clinton Statue for that one)...
"On March 17, 2007, North Korea told delegates at international nuclear talks that it was preparing to shut down its main nuclear facility." (we need a GW Statue for this one)...
"In February 2012, North Korea announced that it would suspend uranium enrichment at the Yongbyon Nuclear Scientific Research Center and not conduct any further tests of nuclear weapons while productive negotiations involving the United States continue" (an Obama statue is in order)....
We are going to need a lot of statue money!
Note: In case you misunderstand the situation, it's only going to be in a decade or two after any "talks or agreement) that you know ANYTHING.
Nobel Peace Prize winners have often been viewed with surprise, cynicism, and sometimes outright contempt.
Is it time to end this 'honor' which was is increasingly given to groups and individuals with decidedly partisan political agendas and was not one of the categories in Alfred Nobels bequest?
No but they should just pass it out at the Oscars so it will be recognized for what it really is.
The award for Obama pretty well shot it's credibility.
Actually the peace prize's credibility was pretty well shot in 2000 when Crips gang founder and convicted murderer Tookie Williams got a nomination. (Kim Dae-Jung of South Korea ended up getting the prize).
can I have links to articles form mainstream democrats condemning the organization for handing it to Obama?
I won't look for any because mainstream media doesn't speak for me.
Obama had no business getting a peace prize. I voted for the guy, but it was certainly surprised that he was awarded it. It made me lose respect for whatever the peace prize stands for. Maybe an argument could have been made at the end of his presidency, but I wouldn't be the one to make that argument.
If North Korea comes to some lasting peace agreement with South Korea - and if Trump plays a role in that - good for him. Chalk one up for Trump. Whether he personally played a role or his administration did, he should get the credit. The thing is, the peace prize doesn't really care about future ramifications. If the US gives up a lot to make it happen, it might be worth a peace prize, but it might not be worth a damn otherwise.
At least, in that case, he'd have more merit for a peace prize than Obama did in his first year.
They have awarded Nobel Peace Prizes to plenty who were not fully successful, I don't know why Obama is considered the low standard. The point is to work toward peaceful solutions regardless how perfect.
By the way Obama wasn't awarded the peace price for the Iran deal but people are ready to award it to Trump for doing the same with NK. If Trump can bring peace to the Korea's he deserves it.
Somehow this poll got appended to another one on quite a different topic.
