An unfortunate part of American culture is crass materialism....that's one of the only things that binds us as a "culture" - green and love of money. I'm speaking of today - not isolated states, cities and towns in a bygone era.
Let's not be funny. It's one thing to look at stuff which started years earlier and ended up blowing up when a new Potus gets in, quite another when the dude is there for 6-7 years.....

An atmosphere of deregulation (again, ala Trump) let the Fox on Wall Street and everywhere else watch the chickens. The SEC was emasculated.
Failure to see the run-up to it when things started going bad in 2005...and to take steps to mitigate it.
Much more, of course...but the same wrongheaded beliefs you see now (get government out of business, borrow against our children's tab to give tax cuts, don't tackle big issues like health care, unlimited bucks for the Military Industrial Complex...etc.) are the root cause. Remember when Enron CEO was a personal friend of GW...Kenny! You probably think this is/was all coincidence...
In a word GREED. It was so clear to see from Day one when GW actually sent out million of checks to taxpayers...from debt. Soon after, he was giving joyrides on our submarines and letting civilians run the controls (resulting in many deaths on a ship above).
After that the BLM (oil, minerals, etc.) was found to be having sex and cocaine orgies....and, heck, why not? GW was POTUS and all is good...no one is going to hold anyone's feet to the fire because they were all stealing from us (just like the current admin)....

I've found that's it's Russians that have less appreciation of the effort made by their western allies, rather than people from the other ally countries
That might have changed over the last 20-30 years, but amongst Russians my age, I've found their knowledge of the contributions of all allies, to be less than is typical of people of my age here.
That's to be expected though -any notions on free press and propaganda here, pale in comparison to soviet era Russia.

Please, they began war with Japan as the war was ending. WWII ended when Japan surrendered.
Had the invading Europeans been less racist, barbaric, and avaricious, I'm most certain that some form of wide-scaled integration and assimilation would have occurred. For the most part, the indigenous Americans were not racists. Most tribes were known to accept other races and other tribe members into their own.
Since greater assimilation would have taken place, no greater divergence in cultures would have transpired. Instead, Europeans and indigenous Americans would have grown closer together and become more similar in time. Thus, cultural development would have coalesced in unison, allowing for both the eventual erosion and conversion of differences.
That would have destroyed both the indigenous and the European culture.
I get the point that in 10k years (or so) there may be only a single human culture and perhaps a single phenotype. Europeans, Asians, Blacks, etc will be depicted in museums just as now we show replicas of thew Neanderthal man.
The single color single culture humans will likely be divided along lines of IQ and physical beauty. So your dream may never become a reality.

Physical beauty will be available to pretty much everyone in affluent societies through surgery, genetic engineering and other technology. That will happen within this century. Making everyone super smart might take a while longer as the genetic coding that makes for a great brain seems to be pretty complex, but that should also happen eventually. In 10,000 years, mankind will likely be living and developing in habitats separated by vast distances, in this solar system and far beyond. So I would expect to see more diversity among humans than has ever existed before.
