He didn't get everything right but I never got the impression that he acted from malice. Since then, it's been a downhill slide to the present.

Bush Sr. didn't have the same sense of purpose as Reagan, nor did he have the backbone needed for the job.

Clinton, while I would have loved to sit down and have a beer with him, always seemed a bit out of place in the White House. Sort of a country cousin who came to the city, landed a kickass job, and went on an extended party. On the flip side of that bumpkin personality was a sense of sneakiness - like he knew something nobody else knew, was daring you to guess, and wouldn't tell you even if you guessed correctly.

Bush Jr., who seemed fairly likeable in the sense that if he was your neighbor you'd invite him to the occasional BBQ, was overwhelmed after 9/11 and it showed. In peacetime, he probably wouldn't have stood out at all. But in the chaos that followed the WTC attack, he just seemed to flounder a bit. Not all the time, but enough that you were always on edge that he was going to go seriously fubar on something that mattered and it was going to end badly.

Obama came across as smug, plain and simple. His attitude toward those who disagreed with him was dismissive, which is ridiculous in the leader of this country. He gave the impression that he knew better than anyone else, and when he didn't get his way it was evident that any graciousness was forced.

Which brings us to Trump. Narcissistic, egomaniacal, and possibly slightly deranged Trump. Quite frankly, it's hard to say a whole lot positive about Trump other than the fact that he's shaking Washington up so much that you'd think it was on a fault bigger than San Andreas. That, and he isn't Hillary.

So, yeah, Reagan was the last POTUS who could even be said to be in the neighborhood of presidential.

As a third party voter, can I ask all of you partisan types to at least try to nominate people who don't have more baggage than the La Guardia lost and found next time? In all honesty I hold all of you a little bit to blame for the 2016 fiasco. I realize reality TV is popular, but let's get serious here. When one party's candidate is a reality star and the other party's candidate has enough skeletons in the closet to cast the production of Pirates of Penzance we've got to rethink a few things.
A significant post that definitely needs more exposure!

Somewhere in this schoolyard called America there has to be a voice over near the ball diamond yelling "stop fighting over the swing sets or the bleacher seats and let's play ball instead".

America rejected his agenda in 2016.

HE WAS A INEPT FAILURE
Excellent synopsis of the failure in chief.

Trump's accomplishments, make Obama look like a Kindergarten drop out.
Being President of the United States of America, is not suppose to be an "act"
Oh, please, BB, list all of those accomplishments for us. Evidently, you have some information I don't have, because, aside from causing chaos and being investigated from day 1, I can't think of any. (how is that wall coming and his healthcare plan ?)

Whether you liked them or not all the presidents from the post ww2 era right up to and including George W. Bush we’re competent and qualified. The last 10 years have been a defecation show. Our leaders are so incompetent now the world is nervously laughing at us and terrified at the same time. After all a complete idiot possesses the nuclear football.

I yearn for just a qualified man to occupy the White House.
Bush II was totally unqualified. The invasion of Iraq was the biggest U.S. foreign policy blunder since Vietnam. Economic policy just as bad. Tax cuts for the rich? How'd that turn out? Turned a surplus into deficits.

Study a little of how these things function before you post inaccurate statements.
IMO, you are being disingenuous. EB was obviously referring to Obama's time in the U.S Senate, not any of his tenure as a state legislator, and I don't believe for a second that you don't realize that.

In no particular order of importance:

1. EB Refer to citizens, not residents. People who live in Illinois aren't citizens of Illinois, they are residents of Illinois. Unless they are citizens of another country, they are United States citizens, and residents of Illinois.

2. The frequency of 'present' votes cast by Obama during his time in the U.S. Senate, irrespective of why he did it, is a popular criticism of Obama. If you tried to assert a lack of awareness re that, I wouldn't believe you.

3. People from all over the world read this forum. Few, relatively speaking, are going to care about lawmaking that only effects the residents of Illinois. People all over the world are much more likely to care about U.S. law than they are about state laws in Illinois.

Thank you! I just can’t stand when people try to defend that narcissist . He was nothing more than a smooth, soft spoken globalist sellout that attempted to destroy our country .

Trump is far from tough. It’s false truculence. Anyone who is THAT garrulous is soft as Twinkie filling.
Absolutely correct. Oh, how I wish Trump voters could see the obvious like you and I can.
