Default Do you think Kim is sincere in denuclearization and peace with SK?

Kim Jung Un has a 180 degree change of heart within months. He seems sincere from the pictures, but given the drastic change, and his history, do you think it's for real? What will he become if the two Koreas become one again? He will not enjoy the power and lifestyle he has had. Thanks for taking the poll.

He's likely since about getting those sanctions lifted.

Giving up his nuclear weapons? Hard to see that happening.

I think he is at least smart enough to know that pursuing a peace deal is the only way for him.

Like you said, he enjoys the power and lifestyle he has had. He doesn't really care about his own people.

The North Korean leadership has focused on absolute control of information to its citizens, glorifying The Leader and creating a common enemy in South Korea and The US. It is just a strategy. He won't attack anybody because he is not dumb enough to commit suicide.

I will only worry if he all of sudden suffers from a terminal illness. I do believe he is crazy enough to take his own people with him.

It's foolish to think he is not being guided by the Chinese in this matter.

He's not going to halt his nuclear weapons program without getting something in return.

What he (and China) wants is for the US to withdraw its military from South Korea.

I don’t think he has much of a choice. The mountain where they tested nuclear weapons collapsed leaking nuclear radiation near the border with China. While I support Trump, I think pressure from China is the big reason why he’s come to the peace table.

Those words in red are the key. For a man who has been Hellbent on a specific agenda to now do that 180 flip and become Mr Nice Guy, there is something very wrong and suspicious here. Trumpees try to say it is because of Trump, but all Trump has done is tweet insults. Kim is not afraid of Trump in any way.

Kim is one slippery, sick dude, and he has been down this road before, somewhat, with other administrations. Each time, he backed out. He is up to something, and is playing chess here. I think he is simply trying to lull us into thinking this is all over, and he will secretly keep at his war machine efforts.
