Kasich may think this sort of thing gives him an opening but I doubt it.

You remember the atmosphere in those days.

Fox beating the war drums, Bush pushing hard, people insinuating that anyone who was not for those measures was traitor dishonoring the dead of 9/11.

It was a real whipped up warlike frenzy, and many caved under the pressure, although reluctantly. Many people spoke out about the dangers of these acts but were drowned out in the mania of the times. And yes, all of the flaws could be foreseen at that time.

Still, the only real opposition did come from Democrats.

1. Obama walked into a historic recession
2. Not all debt was created by Obama

"Some of this debt is attributable to bills passed by Obama's predecessor, George W. Bush, since the federal government's fiscal year budget operate differently from the calendar year. Also, both Bush and Obama rolled out large investment bills to help the US recover from the depths of the financial crisis."

National debt, deficit added under President Barack Obama - Business Insider

And further:

"Donald Trump (as projected in FY 2019 budget): Plans to add $8.282 trillion, a 41 percent increase from the $20.245 trillion debt at the end of Obama's last budget, FY 2017. If he spends as he hopes, Trump will add the second-highest dollar amount in history. More important, he will add almost as much in his first term as Obama did in two terms."

Nixons party of shame is basically still doing its dirty tricks. Don’t think the party has changed at all since the crook.

He is everything I don't want in a Republican. Very establishment and status quo oriented.

Indeed. Both largely suck.

He did. He built upon Bush's debt now Trump is building on that. You have to squint to see any difference.

When something is done wrong, why do you expect it to be praised? Do you praise the cops shooting one of their own in Baltimore to stop him from testifying?

Trump has started off the same. Kasich stole from S.S. to hide debt.
