You don't silence incorrect free speech. The solution is more speech to counter the lies.
If you have no competition to counter the lies, were they really lies to begin with?
Who gets to decide what's "fake news"? If that decision was left to Donald Trump it would be anything that doesn't paint him as the great hero he sees himself as. That's what we call a dictatorship.
Free speech is the hallmark of the United States Constitution. Go move to Malaysia if you hate our Constitution that much.
If the fake news - or hoax hate crimes - involve using city services, make them pay or do city services to pay off the time the government spent handling their claim.
By all means, let's lock up Hannity, Limbaugh, and Steve Bannon for spreading fake news. Let's lock up the executives of Fox, as well. It's the Malaysian way.
If people are dumb enough to believe fake news, let them. Being ignorant and misinformed, while not advisable, is not a crime.
