So have I. Carolyn Bryant lied, and was basically an accomplice to murder. She got away with it. She wasn't put on trial, although she did testify in court. Perjury is one thing she should be brought up on. Another thing is accomplice to murder. Sadly, the people who killed Emmet Till are now dead.
This is the point. If Bill Cosby can be put on trial, why aren't we putting Carolyn Bryant on trial?
from 'the Guardian' -
"The case was reopened by the FBI in 2004 to see if any accomplices could be brought to justice. But in 2007, a grand jury decided there was insufficient evidence to bring charges."
There are several variables, but with those variables, how much is race related, particularly with the opinion of the public?
Cosby is a black man, and he is also a black man who was preaching that other black men need to take responsibility for their own actions and stop blaming society for their problems. He stepped off the plantation. He was also trying to stage a comeback in his career. All of this came in to play to varying degrees.
She'll just say she fabricated the story under duress from her husband and his friend.
Sure, that's what she'll say - in fact, it's what she's saying now.
So what? Why is she not being called to account on it?
I will say that it's quite possible that the original case was handled so poorly that it wouldn't surprise me that any actual evidence that was collected has been "lost" - deliberately or otherwise - since then.
We all know Bill Cosby is as guilty as sin for drugging women to have sex with them. He was put on trial, and now awaits his punishment. However, I stumbled upon something today. Carolyn Bryant is slightly older than Bill Cosby. She lied against Emmett Till, got her husband and brother-in-law to go kill Emmet Till. She lied, got him killed, she was an accomplice to murder.
Normally, it's rare for me to make a thread like this, but this is just nuts. Yes, Bill Cosby did what he did. However, It is absurd that Carolyn Bryant, who admitted that she lied about what happened with Emmet Till, isn't facing a judge. Criminal behavior. And there is no statue of limitations on murder.
Till was dead before she lied on the witness stand. Those lies did not cost Till his life.
