I guess the SS doesn't trust NRA members either. Can't blame them.

More like can't trust a nutty Leftist who might want to come in and shoot the place up and go after Pence like that Progressive nut did on the ball field.
The message you completely missed LOUD and clear is that no guns means safety FOR THE ONLY PEOPLE WITH GUNS. Good luck making the rest of the world model a small conference center.
No guns also means safety for the people with no guns.
The point is this...If the Secret Service doesn't trust you gun nuts around the President and VP, then why should I trust you gun nuts around my family and myself?

Anti-gun nuts seem not to realize that there is always a different standard of security where the president is present. IIRC 11 of 45 US presidents have been shot at, so nearly 1 in 4.
There are always different standards of security for different situations. When I have gone to see pres. candidates, they had metal detectors, and wouldn't even let me bring in my pepper spray. At the local gun shows here, they do not allow any loaded weapon guns inside. People are handing guns back and forth(i.e. 'show and tell'), so there is risk of accidental discharge. It has zero to do with whether the club trusts the members.
BTW, the Secret Service is filled w/ gun nuts. They were among the first agencies to adopt the .357 Sig cartridge when it came along in the 1990s, and then later switched to the innovative FN 5.7 cartridge, which was a controversial choice. They're always at the vanguard when it comes to guns. Do you conclude that you should not trust the Secret Service?

You don't have to trust anyone. Your call. However, you'll never know who is carrying a firearm legally, or ILLEGALLY anyway. Sleep well.

They also don't trust people with backpacks, oversized water bottles, or oranges.
