Trump's attorneys have sent a 20 page letter to Mueller trying to argue that Trump is above the law and can stop any investigation at any time. I understand that they do not want him to answer questions because they are worried he will commit perjury.
Also that he cannot be indicted until after he leaves office. Looks like that Constitutional Crisis is almost upon the USA.
Sekulow and Dowd sent Mueller a letter last January arguing that the "president could not have obstructed justice in the Russia investigation because, as president, he has the power to end it."
"In a copy of the letter published by The New York Times, the lawyers argue that the Constitution has empowered Trump to “if he wished, terminate the inquiry, or even exercise his power to pardon.”
of course not since the tax dispute involves a separate corporation and not his personal taxes .
IRS is the least of his problems, but he's got plenty of other problems. No surprise the wife divorced him. Sounds like it's all unraveling.
From what I've been reading Avenatti is in some deep sh*t. Promised to pay a former law partner, unsuccessfully tried to divert nonexistent monies clandestinely (he lied to the court) from another fully-paid settlement to pay the guy until he was caught, now has been slapped with a $10MM judgment for failure to pay.
Then, had a stooge file a petition throwing his firm into involuntary bankruptcy to avoid an arbitration hearing on the issue.
Avenatti doesn't have clean hands, that's for sure - and is definitely walking on the edge. Worthy opponent for Trump - I'll be sorry to see it end. If Avenatti cannot resolve these issues, it looks like Trump may be the survivor, here - as Avenatti may not have the money to continue.
