One more very important fact is, as President, he is the commander in chief of all military, and if he orders that they be deployed, they are deployed.
There is no "asking" the pentagon, or anyone else.
His sworn duty to protect the constitution, and country is what is in play here.
If he decides to call up the military, that is his responsibility, and his alone.

Maybe today we can view this group of unarmed migrants headed to America as an "invasion force," but this isn't the first caravan that has headed our way and no other POTUS ever hinted at such a thing as an "invasion force." This too, I think, is something only Trump and his supporters could hatch up and support as if somehow good use of America troops or somehow the American way or intelligent American leadership.
It's Trump as usual, also lying about who these people are in general, more fear-mongering. Twisting the truth in just the way needed to keep his supporters frothing over their perceived enemies, so they can believe all the more they are true American patriots. More like pretending all considered, and to pretend you must "make believe!"
To my knowledge, there has never been a caravan headed here with intent of crossing illegally, that has the numbers this one does.
They are in the thousands, not hundreds, and reports say many are armed.
I say shoot a few of them if they enter illegally, and the rest will get the message to turn around and go home.
It's high time this country grew some balls.

Your "ballsie" comment says all anyone needs to know about your perspective and thinking, but fortunately most people can consider these sorts of developments in a little better balanced and informed manner.
As I just commented recently somewhere else in this forum, the number of migrants held back at our border is far less than it was back in 2000. Doesn't really matter whether they arrive by caravan or otherwise, does it? Other than a longer wait at the border for asylum consideration. I seriously doubt any are armed that are actually serious about getting across the border like the vast majority of migrants intend.
What is exasperating the problem more recently is conditions in the countries these people are trying to escape for all variety of reasons. Part of what Bush and Reagan are talking about in this video posted in another thread touches on how better to address that problem as compared to what Trump is doing that only makes it worse.
Maybe that's why our illegal immigration problem has gotten so out of hand?

Illegal immigration has been going on for a long time now. Why? Might have something to do with all the American citizens and companies who have been paying them to work here. Just a wild guess on my part...

Trump supporters don't give a rats arse what lies Trump might tell! Lies are entirely okay, unless of course told by someone they don't agree with. Then it's a criminal offense. Lies are okay, misrepresentation of the truth even better, the more crude and insulting still better yet. "Whatever works" as they say, and for Trump's base "whatever works" is all that matters, no matter the truth.
Whatever works can be insulting, embarrassing and/or just dumb, regardless the facts and reason, as long as whatever Trump spits out helps to forward the agenda Trump supporters imagine as "making America great again." That's one wide open expanse of anything goes!
IOW's why waste time pointing out the lies? Isn't that something like complaining a racist isn't politically correct?
