This saddens me. One more tradition down the drain.
As others have said, why can't boys have their own group and girls another? Or else just form a new organization and call it something else entirely, leaving gender out of it, like the 4-H club?
Because there aren't enough boys signing up for Boy Scouts -- so they want to be more inclusive.
Why can't boys, and men have their own institutions? Boys act differently around girls, and often need a place to just be boys, and have male role models without the involvement of women. I find this entire trend in society disturbing. I am glad I was able to experience scouting before this PC gender crap came into vogue.
Because the Boy Scouts were failing, their numbers were dwindling to nothing so they included girls so they could up their membership.
Girl Scouts are suing Boy Scouts because they want to change their name from Boy Scouts to Scouts, now that they have accepted girls in their troops and dens.
And Girl Scouts is claiming they have sole right to the name "Scouts", even though they were founded after Boy Scouts.
All I can think of, is the powers that be and the cookie dynasty of the girl scouts really, really wants to hang on to their organization.
It's all silly. I think only the US really still uses "boy" for Scouting. I was in Scouts Canada when I was a wee lad, and that was well over 35 years ago. It wasn't "boy" then.

I think that the Girl Scouts are trying to prevent the all inclusive Scouts from holding all rights to the words "scouts" and "scouting". To prevent future all inclusive Scouts lawyers from suing in the future to get the Girl Scouts money because they used the all inclusive "Scouts" name in their sales of cookies and other products
1) Boy Scouts name to remain the Boy Scouts
2) Girls should be able to join the BOY scouts
3) Boys can't joint the Girl scouts
The arrogance is unbelievable... and sadly it's all about money.
When these petty things arise, it's always because of money being involved. Mostly because a damn lawyer wants a big payday.
