And how many of those 114k homeless are transients from other states? If you're going to be homeless you'd want to do it where it's warm.
It's not the weather per-say, it's all the free stuff, money raining down from the Brown Rot administration as well as every far left city and the freedom to put up a tent and squat wherever you want and use whatever doorway you wish as a restroom. Did you see the recent article on Cal Trans workers facing hazmat conditions dealing with needles and 5 gallon buckets of human waste?

Go drive around the Bay Area or L.A. and you'll see homeless camps everywhere. Yep, golden state is really the GOLDEN SHOWER state...

While "michiganmoon" thunders on and on about California's impending fiscal doom, let's see what the professionals have to say. The state recently sold $2.1 billion in bonds; in order to assign a risk category to those bonds, independent private sector credit agency economists review the state's budget and fiscal condition. Some excerpts:

"California's 'AA-' IDR reflects its large and diverse economy, which supports strong, albeit cyclical, revenue growth prospects, solid ability to manage expenses through the economic cycle, and a moderate level of liabilities. The state has demonstrated strong budget management during this period of economic recovery and expansion, using temporary tax revenues to eliminate the overhang of budgetary borrowing that had accumulated through two recessions. The state has also reserved a portion of revenue growth in its rainy day fund."

"Long-term liabilities, while above the median for U.S. states, are a moderate burden on the resource base. Pension funded ratios declined following the downturn. The state has instituted some benefit reforms and implemented a long-term plan to increase contributions to the teachers' system, among other changes to improve prospects for funding improvement."

Remember when the California haters said California is "going to be the next Greece"? LOL, they have been proven to be dead wrong

Sorry you don't understand how that works, let me help you:

If you earn more money than you need to pay all of your expenses you have a surplus in your household budget, it is still a surplus and a good thing whether you save it or use it to pay down your mortgage or car loan.

It is only in the right wing alternate reality that it's claimed that California doesn't actually have a surplus and that's probably because they are still trying to figure out how to explain the trickle down economic failures of Kansas and Oklahoma

Then how come Chicago, Minneapolis and Boston - three other far left cities with "free stuff" and "money raining down" - don't have homeless camps everywhere?

It's because it gets cold in those cities, that's why. So yes, it IS the weather.

Some cons here are so desperate to blame liberals for the sun rising in the morning they'll come up with the most lame reasons to do so and ignore the most obvious things staring them in the face.

You need GDP to compare apples to apples. Where do they rank then?

Are there any percentages on how much of this is based on agriculture? People don't realize how much of their produce comes from CA. The entire world relies on produce from CA.

As water shortages become more of a problem, I wonder how this will affect the economy?

In spite of the large land area it occupies and its importance to the US and the world, agriculture in CA contributes only a small portion of its GDP:

"Compared to other states, California has a large agriculture industry (including fruit, vegetables, dairy, and wine production),[27] but at less than 2% of the GDP, it makes a relatively minor contribution to the state's overall economy"
