No one (that includes both Democrats and Republicans) have a plan for fixing inner city violence. It involves talking about race, culture, education, and also involves spending lots of money.

Also, I think another reason these shootings are ignored is because they mostly take place in sketchy neighborhoods where few people willingly live. Not to mention that almost all of the victims and shooters are gang members, so many people don't view them as true victims. We may as well be talking about shootings in Honduras. That's how distant it is for some people.

They have no problem doing illegal things. Some people steal guns. Some people borrow guns from other criminals. Some sell drugs to get guns. Many of those unemployed and broke men get money through illegal means.

A friend of ours just had her husband murdered last month in downtown Chicago (river north). The person that killed him was arrested 99 times ...

Sadly not true, at least in the Detroit area. We've had many children shot or killed getting caught in the crossfire. And I'm talking 10 year olds an under that have nothing to do with gangs, other than being in the wrong place at the wrong time. And there are many other innocent people that again, get caught in the crossfire.

It happens here too. I'd like to think of children and the elderly as being victims, even if they aren't physically harmed. They have to hear constant gunfire and can't really do anything about it.

My coworker grew up in a rough area and said gunshots were just a common part of life. She said she was only really scared when the shots sounded close by.

Yup. It's honestly infuriating to see this portrayed as some left/right issue. There is no good plan from anyone. Some conservatives talk about "getting tough on crime", while the root problem is a bunch of young men who shoot guns and don't even care about the consequences.

You are wrong on this one.
White: 2.64 per 100k
Black: 17.51 per 100k

As far as the mass and school shooters, I am equally outraged on them. These asshats combined with the inner city asshats killing each other brings our countries violence rate up. And any pro firearms person, they know where the violence problems lay in this country. It is basically 3 groups and to solve these issues it is going to require very complex solutions to attack them. It has nothing to do with race or whom dislike whom.
I have an updated list.

http://www.vpc.org/studies/blackhomicide18.pdf

The Black homicide rate is 18.68 per 100,000
The White homicide rate is 2.67 per 100,000

While the White homicide rate has risen ever so slightly, the Black homicide rate has jumped 1.16 percentage points.

Missouri, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, they are frequently the most murderous states for Blacks in the USA.

Most people who talk about Chicago's gun violence are not from here, have never lived here and don't know what's going on, and also don't know these shootings are gang-related and are gang-on-gang (60% are gang or gang narcotics related) or domestic violence and confined to certain areas. Armed robbery is a small percentage.

Why are white people so concerned about the shootings in Chicago, especially when white people are the least affected by them? Are you concerned about the lives of these black youths or is this just a talking point to justify racism against blacks? When are all these people who love to bring up how horrible Chicago is going to come here to help out?

According to law enforcement, the majority of the guns used in these shootings are brought in from red states where access to purchase guns is much easier--mostly Indiana, Wisconsin and Mississippi. The guns are initially bought legally, then their way is made into the illegal gun selling market.

"Weapons recovered in Chicago were also traced back to Mississippi, Wisconsin, Ohio, Kentucky, Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama and Texas, according to the report."
Thank you. This is just another "Use anything to bash the libruz" thread. Neither the OP nor his cheering section gives a rat's patoot about Chicago, or about anyone who isn't "them".

As opposed to the umpteen number of Trump bashing threads were Trump voters are called, Trumpees, Trumpists, **********s, Trumpeters, Trumpkins, and other names?

The reason Chicago is cited is that it has one of the highest murder rates in the country. It also has the typical Democrat leadership that don't care about their Black constituents except to get a vote out of them.

As always, Chicago is gangbang city.

The city has a long and rich history of criminals and gangsters even before the Capone years. The gangs have long been entrenched throughout Chicago society, with many of these gangs being in existence for almost 60 years, some even longer. And these are also Latino based gangs and even some white ones in addition to the black gangs, so it's not just a 'black' thing. You have families that have been in the same gang through several generations.

You will never erase that sort of power and influence from the city, and while some years may be worse than others, you can never eradicate something that is so much a fabric of the city. That's why Chicago is a bad litmus test for eradicating gun violence, gangs, and violent crime.
