No I'm being serious. You act as if everyone wants to naturally not comply with these laws you don't like

Slave wages? No one is forced to take a job and if a business cant find help at a lower wage they have effectively punished themselves. Min wage laws destroy jobs and opportunity.

That really is the bottom line. Let's face it, if businesses were left to their own devices, they would pay their employees as little as possible and treat them like slaves. These regulations keep them in line, and if they are not able to survive, they shouldn't be in business in the first place.

Would you work for slave wages (whatever that term even means)?

So some income isn’t better than zero income ? These people are paying their living expenses but can’t afford to live right in Manhattan by themselves most likely for example most likely unless they have a sweet rent control deal .

You think that restaurant workers are ever going to be able to afford to live a short walk from their jobs if the restaurant is right in Manhattan for example or San Francisco .

People also have a choice as citizens to move to other states or cities that offer better opportunities for them .
It’s not like they are stuck in NYC and can’t leave .

New York the state is actually growing slow now as many leave for other states .

Let's see, one the less you earn, the less commuting makes sense, as it eats up a higher percentage of your income the less that income is. So it makes the most financial sense for lower earners to be able to live as close to their jobs as possible. If you earn $300/week at a job, but have to spend $100/week in gas to get to it, doesn't make much sense.

Two, people in the expensive cities still have demand for the products that these businesses are selling. If all the restaurant workers, grocery workers etc left for cheaper states and people in the expensive places could no longer get food, then what?

The largest reason restaurants are going out of business in nyc is rent.

This is so true. They are not poor by world standards and complain about not being able to live in a high COL area, while millions of children in 3rd world countries don't have access to clean water.
