Even my grunt, dirty work jobs, I always made way more than MW. It's totally unnecessary.
I see you have never worked for Donald trump.

I did pizza delivery for a year back in the 90s, and drivers got paid 20% of whatever they delivered, pure commission. the folks working on the prep line and management were paid like $3-4 above MW to start, and got raises every 6 months. And we were a local mom & pop chain. In a normal weekend of like 16 hours work, I'd make like $200-300. So like $13-18 an hour, depending. I also pitched in on the line and did cleaning/prep work if I was between deliveries, so I got free food and some kickdown cash from the manager.

Never made less than double the MW. Somehow, I keep finding employers who just volunteer to pay me more than that. Maybe I am just the luckiest person in the world.

I don't agree starvation or wage slavery come on there has to be a better choice than that. Unless you quietly think we should just accept the bare minimum standard for human decency and dignity.

If employers are holding out to pay people $0, why in my entire life have I never made less than double the minimum wage, even for unskilled labor grunt work jobs?
Because you were lucky. My first full time hourly job in construction paid $11/hr (labor, not tradesman), and state minimum was $7.05/hr at the time. And at the pizza place where I had a second job, all non management got minimum; even the store general manager didn't get twice minimum wage, if you broke down his salary by the hours he worked, it was less than $10/hr (state minimum was $8.05/hr at that time)

The pizza place I worked at was a franchise of a big chain (Hungry Howie's), so we had to accept what the franchise manager gave us. I averaged $15-$20/hr total compensation thanks to tips, but the people working in the store were not so lucky

That way it ensures no one is ever poor.

Oh wait, unemployment would be through the roof. Never mind. God I just didn’t realize that government intervention on the free market had unintended consequences.
Yea how dare people ask for a minimum standard of dignity how dare they. They should be happy to eat the scraps there generous and benevolent mast I mean boss throws them.

Not about luck. They chose the job that paid MW, you didn't. Your job traded higher wage for higher risk of no/low wage on slow nights, and it worked out for you.

But all of you voluntarily accepted the terms of your employment. No luck involved.

Honestly I don’t care what red states do. What Trump has taught me is half the country is irrevocably split from the other half and the sooner we allow the country to regionalize and divide, the better.

How dare they live in a country where they can get a college degree from the comfort of their own home

How dare they live in a country where they can join the military and obtain massive benefits

You do know the poor will still be poor at $15 an hour right? Do you have any idea how the poor spend their money in this country? iPhones, iPads, laptops, flat screen TVs, used luxury cars, jewelry, tatttos, strip clubs, junk food.

Boy, our poor are really suffering! A few more dollars will solve all their problems!
