Except that the NYT, and WaPo wrote articles outlining the widespread surveillance of the Trump campaign.

You keep trying to deny things that are verifiable.

You can argue the semantics of an informant/spy, but that doesn't change the fact that their was widespread surveillance of the Trump campaign.
