Mueller warned Trump failure to cooperate would result in a subpoena.

"The warning caused turmoil among Trump’s lawyers as they debated how to deal with Mr Mueller’s request for an interview, eventually leading to the Mr Dowd’s resignation."

https://www.express.co.uk/news/world...-investigation

I had to correct title of thread as article implied Dowd just resigned. Dowd resigned back in March of this year.

Okay digging deeper....

The Washington Post’s Carol D. Leonnig and Robert Costa report that Mueller brought up the specter of a subpoena during a “tense meeting” on March 5 after Trump’s legal team told the special counsel’s office that the president had no obligation to speak with investigators:

It was then as a result of that meeting that Dowd resigned.

Are we just learning of this March 5th meeting and the threat to subpoena now?

Here is the original WaPo article.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/polit...=.100914d7fb96

From the article...

With those details in hand, Trump lawyer Jay Sekulow compiled a list of 49 questions that the team believed the president would be asked , according to three of the four people, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk publicly

President Trump can tell Mueller to pound sand and there's not one thing he can do about it.

Not sure if that is true or not.

Trump wants the investigation to be over so he should just speak to Mueller and be done. Hasn't he been saying it is a "witch hunt" and no collusion? A genius that he is should be able to handle it.

so the questions released today are most likely from jay sekulow's list ( which would rule out team mueller as being the source of the leak ).

No, he doesn't want it to be over. If he wanted it to be over, it would be over NOW. The witch hunt is good for 10 points in his landslide re-election in 2020!

Sure it is. As an investigator, can't compel the president to answer questions. Only a judge could do that at a trial. Even that wouldn't be 100%. In other words, what on Earth is he going to "subpeona"? Mueller is blowing a lot of hot air these days. Usually that means that someone is out of gas.
