STDs in L.A. County are skyrocketing. Officials think racism and stigma may be to blame

I guess the one of the directors at the public health department is blaming racism for STD's rates are skyrocketing in the county.

Seems like liberals are calling everything racist these days! I wonder what are going to come up with to call a racist next.

They should be happy. More STDs is like being more diverse.

It's Trump's racist, anti-immigrant policies. Immigrants do not feel safe going to the drugstore for condoms because Nazi Trump and his gestapo ICE are forcing pharmacists to ask for citizenship. Also, many immigrants are poor and cannot afford condoms, which is why LA should institute a new tax to fund a free condom program, with bilingual Spanish instructions. It's cruel and racist to deny them a healthy, prolific sex life just because of their immigration status.

But the picture is more complicated when it comes to the high STD rates among minorities. Gay and bisexual men make up the vast majority of new syphilis cases. In L.A. County, syphilis rates among African American women are six times higher than white women and three times higher than Latina women.
Northover said that officials need to evaluate what’s called structural or systemic racism, the way housing or education policies may negatively impact people and their health. Studies have found, for example, that people with HIV who had low levels of literacy were less likely to follow their treatment, and that poorer Americans were more likely to engage in risky sexual behavior, increasing their risk of STDs.
If differing STD rates can be tied to racism then pretty much anything can. As long as groups exist, there will never be an end to group average inequality or to the ways it will be blamed on white people.

Wonder how much tax payers are paying this idiot to come up with this “theory” .

Liberals have been saying everything is racist and sane people are tired of it , and that’s one of the big reasons Trump won .

The African-American community is imploding. The African-American family structure has always been fragile since their arrival here in the US. The institution of slavery completely destroyed African family structure, interpersonal relationships, self-esteem, and culture.

Many negative forces have been at work in catalyzing the decimation of the African-American community. Racism is just one of many. However, practically all the the socio-political problems currently being experienced by African-Americans can ultimately be historically traced to how they first arrived here in the United States and their subsequent treatment afterwards.

Perhaps one might begin to better comprehend the African-American community situation, if you could imagine how the 13 children of David and Louise Turpin would interact with themselves and others, as they attempt to survive and thrive within our society.

How will their maltreatment effect their future marriages?

How will they raise their children?

How will their children's children raise their children within a hostile environment?

Nobody is going to forgive Turpin offspring progeny for their lack of social graces...

And the proof of this is that African-Africans do not experience any of these problems.

I want to disagree but the statistics sadly support this.

Not true. The welfare system that subsidize and incentivized single parent households did. Kids are growing up in fatherless home due to the financial benefits. With 2 income earner in the house, welfare gets cut and more money taxed. Therefore it doesn't take Einstein to know why single parent household are so prevalent in the black community, you can thank the welfare state for these catastrophic unintended consequences.

Not true, again the explosion of welfare in the 1960s was catastrophic to the black nuclear family who had been making great progress up to that point.

At this point you just have to hope for survival of the fittest. The blacks who are smart enough to make it out of these environments need to reproduce more than the blacks stuck in this environment. I'm just being honest. It's 2018, these problems should've died back when Obama was in office. Crime, STDs, is this the 1980s or something during the crack epidemic?

You’re thinking too small.

Sunlight is racist because it illustrates the difference in our skin pigmentation.
