Its stupid to think this will help in anyway on "racial disparities experienced by minorities" (you are certainly not talking about Asians or Jews here even though you pretend that you do). This is just narcissistic bigotry. The caller might have called the police a dozen times over the years reporting Asians, whites, disabled, homosexuals and rednecks doing "suspicious activity". If the caller was Asian and the suspicious person was a hispanic person, absolutely nothing would happen. Giving attention to narcissistic bigots is crucial for CNN to stay in business.

From the schools website
Graduate School students and their family members can study, meet informally, socialize, nap, enjoy coffee and tea, or bring their own food and drinks, in the McDougal Common Room & Lounge during operating hours. After hours access is not permitted.
I see your problem. You're trying to explain college life to people who didn't go to college.

Siyonbola: Yes sir/ma'am, I won't allow it to happen again.
Silly, that’s not gonna get her any sympathy or fame.

Probably not racist, but they may be prejudiced. I bet a lot of these people come from those little white bubbles where the first black person they ever really knew was in college, and the only black areas of town weren’t safe for white people to go to. There’s a lot of segregation up north. My kids wouldn’t bat an eye considering they have always been the minority at their school, and they’re white. When someone asks which ones are my kids, I just say that blonde girl or blond boy. They are usually the only ones in the crowd. They might complain that Yale is too white.

The point is the student was sleeping. We don't know what was on her person or in her vicinity.

The exchange between the two students tells me it had nothing to do with race and everything to do with the rules of sleeping in that area.
I like to call those types hall monitors. They’re the future manager that checks the time you take to go to the bathroom at work. Um, you spent more than five minutes in the bathroom. What were you doing? You know the type.

Except for the part where the school's website explicitly says that common room can be used for napping? But hey... Make up any lies and reality you want to excuse Black people being harassed, right?

You perpetually offended POC are being used like turds. You obey your trolling master like fools. Are you not capable of asking yourselves why this headline goes national when others such as “black woman disparages Mexican and gets violent at California convenient store” and sooo many others do not? You take the bait everytime suckers. Wise up

The only one who really clearly shows prejudice in this instance is the accuser though. If the caller hadnt been white, it wouldnt even have reached the university newspaper.

Good grief. 8 years until Moth Jr goes to college.

Can I homeschool him for a degree?

Read about this somewhere else.

Honestly, all these police calls for non-criminal things occuring, IMO more people need to be fined for calling the cops/911 for stuff like this.

I also don't see a problem with the way the police responded (not in this one or another recent story where Bob Marley's granddaughter had the police called on her because she didn't look "friendly" enough to a person in a neighborhood where she was renting an AirBnB).

Police, when called, have to check out the situation and the ID not working and them having to verify that a person is a student is an acceptable, common sense thing to do IMO.

They should fine the young woman who called the police. Evidently this is not the first time she has done something like this as she did it to another black student before per the article I read earlier.
