Wrong and Wrong... and not only are you wrong you are not even in the ballpark. If this was a game horseshoes you just hit the pin 2 feet in front of you.

77% of the oil consumed in this country is domestically produced. For the oil we do import most of that is provided by Canada a non OPEC country, roughly speaking about 10% is from OPEC countries.

  • Canada—40%
  • Saudi Arabia—9%
  • Mexico—7%
  • Venezuela—7%
  • Iraq—6%
Keep in mind those percentages are not from total consumption but imports.

Um, that's not our energy usage, that's US electricity generation. That's what we produce, not what we use.
LOL, what is this supposed to mean? Power plants are regionally located and the primary reason for that is because the farther you transport it across a power line the more inefficient it becomes. Thus your source of energy used for power production is a direct indicator of the source used for consumption. Oil has rarely even been listed in this statistic because it's such an insignificant amount. The only state in this country that has a significant amount of power from oil is Hawaii.

If energy efficiency is the goal they could have a review board to decide if you NEED a home of a particular size before authorizing the purchase. Seems a waste of energy for a lone celebrity or politician to live in a huge mansion using up more energy than five standard family homes even when the resident is away for weeks or months at a time.
Many of these are already fait accompli I have worked on California projects and can assure you they were always stricter on energy conservation. I realize that energy codes are not your favorite reading material. Don't blame you. They are second only to legal text in relieving insomnia.
