Five Top ISIS Officials Captured in U.S.-Iraqi Sting

Five senior Islamic State officials have been captured, including a top aide to the group’s leader, in a complex cross-border sting carried out by Iraqi and American intelligence, two Iraqi officials said Wednesday.

The three-month operation, which tracked a group of senior Islamic State leaders who had been hiding in Syria and Turkey, represents a significant intelligence victory for the American-led coalition fighting the extremist group and underscores the strengthening relationship between Washington and Baghdad.

Iraqi and American intelligence officials then spent weeks interrogating him, learning the details and whereabouts of other ISIS leaders in hiding, the officials said.

The American-led coalition used this information to launch an airstrike in mid-April that killed 39 suspected Islamic State members near Hajin, in the Deir al-Zour district of Syria, the second official said.

That is good news. It is encouraging to see the American intelligence work with the Iraqi intelligence to get this done.

It has taken years to build up this relationship with the Iraqis. Nice to see it paying off.

WOW, how great!!! I sure am glad we have stopped hearing about beheadings on the news. Trump said he would deal with them and he made good on another promise.

A number of people in Afghanistan would argue that point, IF they weren't dead.

Obama's not going to be happy about his Jr varsity brothers being captured.

The U.S. -led coalition supported Iraqi ground forces and Syrian fighters known as the Syrian Democratic Forces in the more than three-year war against ISIS.

A liberal will do one of the following
1. Downplay the accomplishment
2. Give the 'real' credit to Barack Obama
3. Talk about Russian collusion or Stormy Daniels

No, a liberal will say Trump gets no credit because he was not personally holding a gun and participating. That's what Republicans said about Obama getting bin Laden. That it was the Seal Team, not Obama. So Trump does not get one ounce of credit.

Yup some liberals will -- just like some conservatives absolutely positively refused to give Obama credit for Bin Laden and for reducing the size of the ISIS territory.

It happens on both sides.

This is a good thing. And a worth while collaboration with Iraqi forces. It look three years but they reclaimed the ISIS territory. It is great news.

And yes good for Trump. I'm sure he will be happy to share the pat on the back with the guys in the field -- from all the forces involved. He's like that.

Wow, the U.S. captured 5 dudes on the CIA payroll. I wonder if they'll end up turning into more Osamas once U.S. taxpayers stop paying their salaries.
