Blackwater was a private contractor hired by the U.S. government and paid with taxpayer money. As such, we were forced at gunpoint to subsidize private industry.
The two things have absolutely nothing to do with each other.
Baltimore, St. Louis, Detroit, New Orleans and other cities would not have anything close to the homicide rates that they have if the police were able to aggressively crack down on the crime in those cities.
The police are powerless to tackle the gangs and drug-related crime.
Did I not state “private industry” clearly enough? Yes, it’s a private corporation that has government contracts.
And rebeldor's point is that a police/security organization that has to compete for your voluntary payments will be superior to a monopoly that forces you to pay them.
That's actually a conservative belief, not a myth.
Just because the whiney-ass liberals keep getting themselves in trouble because they don't know when to shut and follow lawful orders doesn't mean they get to declare that police officers are the enemy of all mankind.
Police officers are mostly conservative. That's a fact. Obama announced that "The Cambridge Police were acting stupidly" and every whiney-ass liberal in America followed his lead. It was probably the stupidest thing I have ever seen a president do. The echos of Obama's stupidity are heard today.
I'm so confused........ I'm glad you think that we should all just follow orders. I'm sure you will say that when Muller kicks in Guliani s door....

Or even better, end the drug war so police don't need to crack down...but the drug war is job security for many of them, so I don't see that happening.
If it weren't, there would be no way to enforce it.
Think that's extreme?
Try testing out the theory, refuse to pay your property taxes.
When they come to collect them, refuse to pay again.
When they try to evict you, refuse to leave.
Men with guns will come to arrest you and forcefully remove you from your property.
That is absolutely true...... That also goes for unpaid traffic tickets and fines and a whole lot of other things. Men with guns will come MAKE you comply.
(Of course, Salon being Salon, they completely ignore the above articles.)

Nonsense. All of those departments were cracking skulls while crime got out of control.
