Would the USA cease to be the reserve currency without the means to project power?
What currency would take over?

Why would any currancy have to "take over", each nation would just use their own currancy, but if we no longer held as world currancy we woudl have to truely fix our economy because we could no longer just print money without hyper inflationary effects.

Yeah so we couldn’t just export our dirty lazy overspend and underwork lifestyle and expect hardworking people like the Chinese to subsidize our fat habit by buying our bond debt.......yeah so we have to face the music of our own fat arse lifestyle. And we can’t blame them illegals anymore either.

China and its trading partners are already switching to the yuan for their transactions. And China is the number 1 trading partner to more than 170 countries around the world. The eu and China are already working on using the yuan for their trade. You can keep brushing off this until you’re left holding a bunch of worthless greenbacks. Thanks trump....MAGA.....morons are gutting America.

Good point. Look at Spain. Once a gloriously rich country and today just a minor power. They could have been like Germany. They found easy wealth in the Americas and instead of building industry and infrastructure over the centuries they built palaces.

US is headed down.

Drone swarms are more for assainations or ground troops. EMP's destroy all of your own stuff as well and only have a small area effect. I could see an EMP being used as a terror weapon though to disrupt untilities.
Lasers have a few problems.
One they lack the power to do any real damage to most targets. Remember ABL was only effective on medium and short range ballistic missiles. It created a small deformation in the skin of the fuselage and since the missile was moving at between mach 6 and mach 12 the airflow did all the damage. Against subsonic aircraft effects would be negligible.
Secondly fire control and guidance are problematic to sync with the laser in instantaneous manner.
Lastly was as mentioned atmospheric conditions.
Lastly lastly my own amateur (well not entirely, I was an aviation fire control tech in the USN early 80s, F-4 phantoms) observation. Our planes have aluminum skin and we can stockpile a lot of mothers mag polish. If you know how a mirror like finish is easy just takes some elbow grease.
Lasers are also greatly restricted by geneva convention. Even if blindness is not its primary intent if it is a secondary result its use may fall under banned weapons.
I invite correction on that as Im not sure.

Yeah Trump caused all this. Get over to that TDS thread you sound like a sufferer.
The Chinese are thieves and nobody assisted them more than Bill Clinton.
Im sure you opposed the Iraq war too but that was all about preserving dollar hegemony.

A vital and necessary war from the american POV.

Call me naive but I can't think of any nation that would attack the US, using the OP's scenario. What would be the point?
