I agree that people who deliberately seek to hurt the feelings of others with their words are garbage (morally speaking) individuals. That doesn't absolve the victim of their responsibility to act in a rational fashion. This is something that far too many folks (particularly on the left) don't understand. Following your idea through to its logical conclusion would render the near-entirety of the world silent out of fearing the very prospect of simple disagreement. It advocates for the ideas of mind-reading and thought-policing. This is authoritarianism defined and personified, and in its most dangerous and sickly implementation. If you are so paralyzed by the prospect that somebody could call you a bad word or hold a dissenting opinion from your own, you're sorely in need of clinical intervention. It's that simple.

You had it completely correct until the final line. How does empowering one side not hurt the other side? That is illogical.

It comes down to tribalism and Trump is really sticking it to the people that red state America have long considered "deplorable" and they love it. So the question is, why does political correctness bother people so bad? What is so bad about being empathetic to people who may be different from the norm?
Both parties spite demographics that aren't part of their base. "Build bridges" for everyone except straight white males, right?

Just as Whites benefit from white privilege in certain aspects, ethnics benefit from people of color privilege when it pertains to what they can say - I.E. "He just hates White people because of slavery. Isn't that understandable?".

Equality means in every sense. If it's okay to call me a cracker, then I should be able to counter with poop skin.

The grading system bothered a lot of the kids at my school (the ones doing bad and getting in trouble, mostly).
Maybe PC culture is making some people feel bad and get in trouble.

The other faction: The toothless, beer-bellied set - they would not be able to comprehend how to be politically correct (i.e., fakely polite) if their lives depended on it.
Most of the time, when I am being politically correct I am not being fakely polite... I am genuinely a polite person.

Some people simply aren't polite, or just feel feel feel that it is too much.

^ This individual doesn't seem to understand what the term "politically correct" means or represents

It has little to do with being mean/nice. It has to do with certain things can/can't be said to/about certain people. It creates imbalance. Imbalance being supposedly what we are fighting against as a society seeking equality.

The imbalance can be race, religion, gender, age, wealth etc.

The American Experiment was based upon equality of opportunity, rather than equality of result.

Those who can't understand this should emigrate to those "superior" societies in Europe so many of them seem to venerate. But be advised: Europeans seem to get very nasty when they seek to settle old scores, and they have the graves to prove it. Maybe that's why they don't like to talk about "certain things".

Because it's never ending, there is no stopping it.

It's an indefinite delusional snowflake pandering feel good safe space concept.

And if you don't abide by it, you get labeled a racist, bigot, sexist, (insert baseless insult here).

Your feelings are not Constitutionally protected.

You have no right to not be offended.

Oh for gods sake allowing black people to vote and move freely does not hurt white america. Thats the point the conservatives have it wrong the USA is better off for allowing all groups to participate freely. When the USA was a backwards slave society maybe we were closer to the founders vision for this country but times change and clinging to the past is foolish.
