A pool party was scheduled that was to be restricted to "POC" (people of color) only. Yet another confirmation that the left is now solidly the home of racism and segregation. It's racism in a strange and circuitous form, but clearly racism nonetheless.
An irony here is that during the 50s/60s civil rights era, there were battles over desegregating pools. I recall one in particular in Monroe NC involving black activist Robert F. Williams.
The Scripps College segregated pool party was postponed due to concerns about safety, but evidently no concern about the racism. If the safety concerns can be handled, the segregated party presumably will be back on the schedule.
BTW, I wanted to ask: what is the definition of 'people of color?' If we use terms that we can't define, we can't possibly know what we're saying, nor can those listening.
Are Jews 'people of color?' Are Arabs 'people of color?' What about Hispanics? What about (say) Cameron Diaz, who is Hispanic, blonde, and of fair complexion?
Growing up I had a good friend who had come to America from Palestine, and was just as pale-faced as I am. I am one of those guys, when you see a photo of me, you think 'who is that guy w/ white clown paint on?' Was my Palestinian pale friend a 'person of color' or no?
If we use terms we cannot define, we cannot possibly be making sense.
Meant to add--according to a DNA test I am 1% sub-Saharan African. Am I a person of color in spite of my clown paint visage?
