Because it's easier to pin the blame on firearms, their availability, their capacity, and the laws pertaining to them than it is to actually discuss the true issue at hand.
Those who stand with me that are Pro2A, I hope you don't go deflecting to mental health.
You don't want to go down that road and have politicians dictate a mandatory visit to a shrink for an examination before being able to exercise your rights to keep and bear arms...
Because all it would take is for shrinks with an agenda to deny you your rights based on their opinion.
Direction attention away from the real issue at hand is simple.
Those of us who do not want to see ever more restrictive gun laws bans etc pass will vehemently oppose such measures.
Reason being is simple.
Emotionally compelled devoid of logic and common sense experts believe Australia and Europe are models to follow because less guns = less deaths. However...
Laws only apply to the law abiding.
As evident in every one of these shootings.
1. It is illegal to murder.
2. It is illegal to be on school property with a firearm/ammo.
The flawed logic is criminals will obey laws.
They wont. They havent. Time and time again it is evident.
The dystopian belief of ban and confiscate, will create more victims.
Only police and military should have guns. Yet police have itchy trigger fingers racist blah blah blah and we have a sitting President who was "Literally Hitler/Literally Stalin" echoed on and on and on...
The stupid is perplexing.
Following the logic... well if guns are banned and confiscated... then that means only a few who fail to turn them in will be faced with lethal force.
News flash. Not everyone is naive enough to believe in that and would rather keep their liberty and natural rights to self defense and defense from tyranny.
The whole take them after these incidents and eventually there will be 0 remaining...
Let's address the fact that remains.
1. 19 trillion in debt. You propose a ban/confiscation/fine to be placed on anyone and everyone. How exactly is that going to be enforced? Well with agents of the government armed with guns. So really you're pro gun only when it suits your beliefs.
How much would such a program like that cost in order to be implemented?
I'd say billions trillions even to hire, train, and engage.
Following engaging would be pensions medical coverages for those wounded in action.
There may be raids upon individuals residences. Hell even the military can be involved. But I don't see black hawks cobra gun ships A10s strafing towns/villages. Mortars and artillery deployed reaper drones sending sidewinder and hellfires at everyone's home.
2. You're proposing sacrificing those in possession of a firearm to get your way. Along with sacrificing those employed to enforce your way.
If you really want a ban and confiscation why not be the change you seek and do it yourselves?
3. The whole redefining of the 2nd Amendment.
Founding fathers didn't see AR15s.
Nor did they forsee the printing press evolving into 24 hour news feeds either. Should the first be treated as subjective as the 2nd? How about propose altering other civil liberties and rights protected by the constitution?
4. A belief in bigger government and it will solve all our problems.
No. It wont. Bigger government = more expensive government. As if power doesn't corrupt... officials can be bought/paid off etc. Bureaucracy doesn't drag it's feet or anything...
5. Insert this implement here and compare to firearms.
Cars kill more than guns. Fact. Look it up for yourself. Compare the mortality toll year for year with cars and firearms. Cars kill more. Even with registrations and licenses and insurance. Tough pill to swallow I know.
So really what stops any real talks of ending plaguing violence be it committed with a knife, a fist, a gun, a car whatever, is the fact that remains
1. It is a Constitutionally Protected Natural Right to keep and bear arms.
2. Many here and outside of the basement of city datas political forum, understand it is so and
VEHEMENTLY oppose any new legislation regulation.
3. It is the
individual that committed the act. Not the inanimate object incapable of physical action and incapable of nefarious thoughts.
So I say for the I don't know, how many'th time.
Want to be serious about solving this problem?
Address Motive. Incentive. Intent. Enabling outliers.
Want to know what they are? And what measures can stop it? Ask. Or sift through the plethora of threads I've posted in following a tragedy.
