Whether an informant was inside the campaign, or tasked with with initiating contact with campaign staff from the outside isn't the issue.
The issue is whether or not the informant was attempting to entrap Trump campaign staff.

It’s not Felix Sater and it was not a “mole” inside the Trump Campaign. He was tasked by the CIA/FBI to plant information into the Trump Campaign that they would later try to use for illegal FISA Warrants.
Trump is constantly claiming people are spying on him.
DOJ could find no evidence that Obama wiretapped Trump. It is highly unlikely that an FBI agent was planted amidst his staff. If there was a spy, it is far more likely is was someone from another government.

Just because CNN has been critical of Trump, and he has called it Fake News as a result, his unthinking, unlearned followers have taken up the cause and scream and yell "Fake News!" whenever the mere mention of CNN is made.
