It is mainly due to housing rates. I was hearing this a few weeks back on KTAR. I forget if it was Mac & Gaydos or the morning show, but it was talked about on that local news station due to rent costs. The ironic thing is a number of the homeless actually are employed.

Lol..there is NOTHING more to Maricopa County than the Phoenix Metro Area.

If you’re in a place like Wickenburg or Gila Bend, you may as well be on Jupiter.

But to get away from politics on this. The homeless come to Arizona and California because of the mild weather. Places like Buffalo would not be a good place to be homeless. And others cannot keep up with the high cost of living in California. Not really a blue state problem but a cost of living problem.
Thank you. This is a big part of it. It is no coincidence that cities like Buffalo, Cleveland, or Milwaukee. They are going to cities located in Arizona, California, Florida. People don't really want to be homeless in places with bitterly cold winters. And the low cost of living is likely one factor in why there aren't more homeless in Texas.

Rents in Maricopa County are out of control.

I wish people would quit moving to this state for a while. We can’t keep up this level of absorption.

In Arizona many job opportunities have been taken by illegal Mexican aliens and wages have been driven down by illegal immigration.

Also look at the homeless population in liberal utopias like Seattle and Portland. Oh yeah the liberal symbol Amazon actually refuses to do their fair share even though they're a major contributor to Seattle's social issues.

I don’t think it’s political.

It’s perhaps the mild winters where homeless people can sleep at night, in the streets. So homeless from all over the country move to warmer climate states.

They don’t move to Florida perhaps due to the fear of being eaten alive at night by Aligators and crocs that live in every single body of water in the entire state.

Texas is much colder in the winter than CA, FL and AZ.

Amazon isnt a "liberal symbol". Homelessness will only increase as long as we dont have a federal public safety net and a national health care system.

???

It’s regulary in the 40’s in southern Arizona at night during the winter; it’s the desert, and it gets below freezing more than one would think.
