Two U.S. citizens at a northern Montana gas station were questioned by a U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer for speaking Spanish.

Suda recorded the encounter, where the agent says the two were brought outside for questioning because they were "speaking Spanish in the store, in a state where it’s predominantly English-speaking.” <snip>

Why is it that sparsely populated rapidly aging states which very few Hispanics, let alone illegals are so worked up about illegal immigrants where a state like California which basically has Hispanic population equal to 10 Montanas are able to successfully accommodate them with relative ease?
