Liberals keep telling me that if they ban "assault rifles", they haven't banned ALL firearms, so this means they have NOT violated the 2nd amendment since we can still buy some firearms.

I'm waiting for those same liberals to announce that since the EPA only banned certain "news" organizations, but not all of them, they have NOT violated the 1st amendment's protection of freedom of the press since we can still listen to some news organizations.

Anybody want to set up a pool on when they will announce that?

The Trump apologists won't see it that way. They're too far gone. It's going to be up to us to fix this country after 2020.

There are hundreds, if not thousands, of news organizations in the country.

But there are only about 30 chairs in the White House briefing room. So a maximum of 30-some news organizations can get in. All the rest have to be told, they can't get in.

Is there some reason why CNN should get preference over, say, the San Diego Union-Tribune? Or KOA radio in Denver?

Time for CNN to step aside and wait their turn, as all the others have been patiently waiting.

BTW, have the others ever claimed that keeping them out of the room, violates the 1st amendment?

Freedom of the Press does not guarantee front row seats for any entity claiming to be a "news" organization.

Freedom of the Press does not guarantee or create a "right of access" for any public or private figure or entity, either.

why do you consider a 100% accurate statement about the first amendment to be an 'excuse'

It's not an excuse; it's the Constitution. The 1st Amendment Freedom of the Press does not create or guarantee the right to access to any information or entity, public or private. Freedom of the Press only guarantees the right to right print articles or editorial content free of government interference.

The sole purpose of Freedom of the Press is to prevent things like President Lincoln from shutting down newspapers and imprisoning newspaper editors who disagree with his policies.

Obviously, it didn't work, since Lincoln shut down newspapers and imprisoned editors who opposed the Civil War.

And, I'm not a Trump supporter, nor did I vote for him.

BTW, if letting some news organizations into the briefing room but not letting others in, is a violation of the 1st amendment....

...isn't subsidizing some media with government tax money like NPR, but not subsidizing others like ABC or Fox News, also a violation?

Exactly, the uninformed think freedom of the press means they can go wherever they want when they want.
