The teams will just decide to stay in the locker room during the anthem. Just like they did before the government paid the NFL millions of dollars to stage fake displays of patriotism prior to every game.
That is a possibility. The question then becomes, will the narrative change to; an entire team refusing to come out and show respect for the National Anthem?
The irony is that troops fight for their right NOT to stand..
Exactly.
"We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice,"
Do I need to post a link?
That is exactly what these players are doing -- trying "to form a more perfect union, establish justice, ..."
Soldiers risk their lives for our nation that is working toward that "more perfect union," "with liberty and justice for all."
Traitors trying to undermine our nation by demanding obedience to a symbol -- our nation's founders would be appalled if they knew. This is everything they fought against.
Cops saved more black lives than anyone. Science deniers ignore statistics that show black lives do not matter to BLM or black activists who gin up hate and fear for profit.
Absolutely correct. The amount of black lives saved by cops who arrest the scum/criminals in these low income neighborhoods is endless. Bad parenting/fatherless homes produce criminals and cops are there to take them away from society every single day.
BLM has shown plenty of times they couldn’t care less about the black on black violence within their own community which is far worse and more deadly than the occasional police shooting. 4-5 cops in Dallas were shot after a BLM protest.
I can sympathize with the kneeling message but it is misplaced.
If you have an issue with law enforcement, with your local government, then take it up with them or to the poll. Peacefully protest outside the court house or the White house if you want.
Do not disrespect the USA, which gives you the right to voice your opinion/issue to begin with.

I agree with this.
The problem with the protest is that there are millions of people that fight for what this country represents - which is symbolized in the flag and the anthem.
So if this is the means they want to choose to protest - expect a fight on your hands.
I think there are better ways - while not on your job - to protest. Do people not understand that when you are on someone else's time, and you are being paid, you have given up some of your freedoms? If the players don't like the terms, then they can leave and fight for what's important to them.

I never will understand America's endless glorification of the war machine. I don't know how people developed the mindset that killing other people is something to be praised and applauded, as long as they are "the enemy." (however you define that.) Soldiers are no more noble than other American workers to me. Workers of every kind make America great, from the lowliest janitor to doctors, receptionists, flight attendants, and firefighters. This country would cease to exist if we stopped doing our jobs, whether we're in the military or not. I appreciate soldiers, but I appreciate all American workers who take their jobs seriously and do them well.

Nobody is glorifying the "war machine". Real people risk themselves for this country, which is symbolized in the flag and the anthem. I can't help you if you don't see that.

Hard-on... ??
Maybe it's the fact that millions of people and their families are involved in the military. My dad did 30 years... brother 20 years... brother-in-law 25 years. Maybe people are just appreciative that others would put their lives on the line to protect me and my family.
To show a total lack of appreciation of that is immature... at best.

It is the male equivalent of 50 Shades of Grey, some weird homo-erotic fantasy thing. Millions of men just love to watch fit, sweaty men grunt and strut in movies like American Sniper and 13 Hours. Do actual soldiers do their jobs shirtless after waxing and applying self tanner?
