Law firm of Stormy Daniels' attorney hit with $10-million judgment

Quote:
A law firm of Stormy Daniels' attorney Michael Avenatti was hit with a $10-million judgment Tuesday in U.S. Bankruptcy Court after he broke his promise to pay $2 million to a former colleague.

To settle his law firm's bankruptcy, Avenatti had personally guaranteed that the $2 million would be paid to Frank last week, but both he and his firm failed to turn over the money.
He also personally defaulted on an IRS Tax agreement

Quote:
At the hearing, the U.S. Justice Department revealed that Avenatti has also defaulted on just over $440,000 in back taxes, penalties and interest that he had personally promised to pay the Internal Revenue Service under another bankruptcy settlement for his law firm.

Remember Trump's comments about his six bankruptcies. Oh, he said they were with my corporations and not me personally. Avenatti's bankruptcy issues are with his company and not him personally.

In any other situation, Avenatti would be praised by Trump. Trump after all said not paying taxes was smart and screwing employees was de rigueur for Trump.

I am not making excuses what Avenatti conduct, merely pointing to the hypocrisy of the Trump supporter.

It's not his taxes he didn't pay. He's $5 million in arrears on his 941s (federal income and payroll taxes withheld from his employees' paychecks). He withheld the $$$$$ but didn't remit it to the IRS.

I will admit he has a hot soon to be hot ex wife. Going through a divorce with all these tax and money problems has to be costing him a bundle.

Good guys just can't seem to get a break.

Michael Avenatti's wife says Stormy Daniels case is holding up divorce | Daily Mail Online

Quote:
Michael Avenatti's estranged wife is becoming increasingly frustrated with his Stormy Daniels case because it is holding up their divorce, it has been revealed.

On Friday, Avenatti's resortwear entrepreneur wife Lisa Storie told of her frustrations.

'I need to be divorced and if [Michael Avenatti] continues to paint the narrative, he can ignore our case! Everyone reports we are divorced. That does not help my goal to get a divorce.

'Can you imagine divorcing him?'

According to Avenatti he was not a stake holder in the company. At least not at that time. So it needs to wind thru court before you can make your assertions.

According to the LA Times article he has taken personal responsiblity for the non payment of the IRS taxes and paying the money back out of his own pocket. That is the $440,000 he failed to pay.

With his divorce, the Federal Courts and the IRS coming down on him he's in deep financial trouble.

Don't see where he can get a large enough payday from Stormy to help his problems unless some big Dem donor is paying him some big money to keep the issue alive.

Quote:
The firm is also delinquent on $440,291 in back taxes, penalties and interest that Avenatti promised would be paid last week, Assistant U.S. Atty. Najah Shariff told the bankruptcy judge.

Avenatti and his firm had accepted the deadline under an agreement reached with the Internal Revenue Service in January. It requires Eagan Avenatti to pay the IRS a total of $2.4 million.

Avenatti paid an initial installment of $1.5 million. Shariff told the judge that the government would soon file a motion demanding payment of the additional money that was due last week.
