So what’s wrong with shut down ZTE’s future ability to sell to NK and keep American jobs?

I personally would like to see a stipulation that ZTE must hire American CEO and certain number of American board of directors in addition to the fines and subject to American audit.

That would be the conversation we should have.
When ever you have sanctions there is the potential american suppliers are involved. That does not mean you don't do sanctions.

And you understand ZTE was selling to Iran and K. Korea correct?

And why would an american CEO be an effective overseer and yet multi-national inspectors in Iran is not? You think China gives this CEO carte blanche into ZTE chinese government operations?

Nonsense! Cell phone demand will not abate and the parts supplied by the US will be in demand by those who fill the gap after this Chinese spy agency is closed down.

Yes, I am actually against sanctions. Isolation is not a good strategy. Free trade and exchange of ideas are.

All Chinese companies are spy agencies if you know just a little how they work.

Then you must despise Trump's foreign policy. Especially against Iran and N. Korea.

Again, the unemployed Americans would appreciate your hatred against them.

From NYT “Under the agreement brokered by the Commerce Department, ZTE would pay a substantial fine, hire American compliance officers to be placed at the firm and make changes to its current management team.“

Is this not good enough for you? ZTE will under US government surveillance under this deal in addition to $1.3 billion fine.

1. Save American jobs.
2. ZTE will buy more American products
3. ZTE won’t be able to sell to NK

No.

People will still buy phones and other equipment. They'd just be buying it with some other brand's logo on it. If whoever makes your phone shut down, would you just never have a phone again? Of course not, you'd buy from one of other brands that make a similar product.

Stop pretending this is about about saving American jobs. No one is that stupid.

And some wonder why people are suspicious of government...
If you remember not too long ago, Samsung was called out for doing the same thing with its TVs, when we learned they could spy on people in their homes thru the smart tvs...if Samsung was doing this, all the tv manufacturers are!

Plus, these are only the spying methods WE ARE AWARE OF, god only knows how they are watching in other ways...that we are not aware of!!
