If kids were watching, that's their parents' fault. Her show is for adults. So yes, she was speaking to OTHER ADULTS.

Her show, which is rated TV-MA, is on late at night because it is for adults. Its not her fault if parents let their children watch shows that are innapropriate for children.

I've liked Samantha Bee for a long time, going back to her being on the Daily Show. That being said, my opinion is that she has gone too far lately on her show and this latest thing is way over the edge. Just goes to show you how crazy people on both sides of the spectrum have become.

But then what she said has been repeated over and over on CNN.com and elsewhere

I’m guessing kids don’t go there either ..

For starters, folks should not be offended by language that it used everyday in normal conversation.
You’re conflating the free speech rights of regular people like you or me to those who have the privilege of speaking to the public at large. There’s no right to do so— they were chosen by their respective media. Ms. Bee and Ms. Barr have/had that privilege, but should have known that the privilege, as privileges tend to do, comes with responsibilities.

Actually, this isn’t about speech at all, but about behavior. Neither woman was trying to state the truth— both simply wanted to say something outrageous, probably signaling to their respective bases their solidarity with a political position. That’s not protected speech; it’s inflammatory, obscene speech. Both abused their public platform; both should have been fired. It shouldn’t even be an issue. Both gone, buh-bye.

Worse, their actions just make any chance at reasonable dialogue, never mind common ground, worse than the already slim prospects we face now.

Ultimately, it’s about decency.

And?

It was originally aired on a late night TV show meant for mature audiences only. If CNN, Fox News, and whoever else decide to air it at a different time, that is their choice. Samantha Bee did not make that choice for them.

Besides, a lot of the news really isn't appropriate for young children to be warching or reading. Top headlines on Foxnews are about a black man killed by a cop, a pornstar, graphic pictures of a model who was nearly beaten to death by her boyfriend.... All that might be more concerning for a child to see/hear about then a bleeped out word.

It says a lot about him as a person. He has an opportunity to do something very human and defend his daughter, and he flubs it to talk about "ratings" and "winning." That's simply who Donald Trump is.

Oh good grief.

Ivanka is an adult, why would she need her father to fight her battles for her?
She probably does not want him to do that, and he is respecting her wishes.
As far as I know, she still has not responded to what Bee had said, that is her right. So obviously she would not want him to continue to drag her into it. If it were your daughter and she told you not to say anything in her name, that she would do it herself IF that is what she wants to do, you would do so anyway? Ivanka is a strong woman more than capable of handling herself, even though you thinks she can't..

If that is the case, and it probably is, Trump respected her wishes by not naming her. And that's bad?

But hey, if he had named her then you would have slammed him for that, too.

While I don't like either that much, I still think they support a lot of other people. I hate seeing them suffer just because of it. They should just implement a fine, or go after the one who said it legally. They don't need to cancel shows right and left, that's a bit of an overkill response.
I totally agree with this^^^

Ted Nugent said the same thing about Hillary that Bee did about Ivanka. But that's different.
