Store staff should lock the doors once the establishment closes, so no more customers walk in after closing time. When remaining customers are ready to leave, staff should unlock the doors to let them out and then immediately lock the doors again.

This is how most businesses handle closing.

The bakery needs to establish protocol for locking the doors at closing time. Who knows, maybe they already had such protocol but the staff working that night didn't follow the rules. Maybe that's why they got fired.

nope. the owner made the reason clear in this now-deleted facebook post.

"In this situation it doesn’t really matter that the two staff members working are not themselves racist because the call they made to deny Lillian service caused her to feel like she had been discriminated against. Sometimes impact outweighs intent and when that happens people do need to be held accountable. Since both Lillian and the clamoring public were demanding that these staff members be fired that is what we did putting these two young women out of work. It was an incredibly difficult thing for us to do especially when they felt that they were just upholding our closing time of 9pm but the way in which they went about it lacked sensitivity and understanding of the racial implications at work."

I hadn't thought about that, but that could be a point.

While firing these two employees was wrong. You just need to stop there. The rest doesn't apply to the thread.
It's not a contest.

I don't know the race or ethnicity of the fired employees. If the employer fired the employees because of their race, at will doesn't apply.

Yes, some stores do that and then let out those who are still eating one by one. I can see we might start to require that if humans can no longer understand and or get offended by posted business hours.

Well, you proved me wrong, it's not 100%.

To correct my post:
Quote:
Since Oregon is an at will state, 100% of people with basic intelligence will know that the owners could fire the employees for any, or no reason at all*

Except in cases where employee is a member of a protected class, and the sole reason for firing is that the employee is a member of such protected class.
I thought it went without saying. Again, I was wrong.

So they CLEARLY state that there is a double standard for closing time. One for Whites and another for Blacks with a "clamoring public" aka SJW's and race baiters.
They also clearly state that one should think about one's ethnicity before doing ANYTHING that might possibly, maybe, could make that perpetually offended ethnic person FEEL bad. The bakery needs to hire shrinks as counter people so they can fully understand how people might think and feel.

I'd say the owners need to go to a shrink themselves as they don't seem to understand how the two employees now feel, nor do they give a damn...

Everything you say is true, but doesn't apply in this case. The owner made it pretty clear he fired these two people for events and issues, much like the ones you posted, which they have no control over.
Now if they had helped the white ladies and not the black one, then it'a all relevant.

Do green-eyed light skin Israelis count as brown?

I mean, I certainly get searched in airports as much as any brown person (namely, every time).
