Ripping off or cheating customers aside, this is an outrageous lawsuit.

It's not over two slices of cheese. I have NO idea what the facts are here but the argument is that the app menu shows the option of a QP without cheese at a lower price. Once you get to the store you are charged the QP price with cheese even though you don't get the cheese.

Sounds like someone was sloppy and overlooked the app but McD likely loses here.

The issue is that McDonalds used to offer a Quarter Pounder at one price and a Quarter Pounder with Cheese at a higher price. Now, in store, McDonalds only offers the more expensive Quarter Pounder with Cheese and does not reduce the price if you ask for no cheese. But the lower cost no-cheese option is still available online & via App, but not if ordering in person.

Most class action lawsuits are initiated by lawyers, eyeing their 30% fee, who then shop for plaintiffs. The lawyers think they have a case and can make some bucks. On a $5M suit they could get $1 million+ and you could get $5-10 dollars.
