This comes from the excellent book Enough by liberal pundit Juan Williams.

Following the Watts riots of 1965, a hospital was built in LA intended to provide health care for low income black residents. It was named King/Drew after MLK, and a prominent black physician named Charles Drew.

In 2005 the LA Times did an investigative piece on the hospital. According to Williams, the piece showed that "the hospital had long ago lost its commitment to serve people in need. Instead, the hospital became a way for people with political connections in the black community to get high-paying jobs."

Congresswoman Maxine Waters responded quickly and with fury. She threatened to jump "on top of the desk" of a health dept. official to stop any change in the way the hospital did business. She brought in Jesse Jackson to hold a protest against reforms. Williams writes, "The Jackson-led rally got lots of coverage on television and featured lots of racial name-calling." Anyone opposed to reform could expect to be called racist. The head of the LA county health dept. was called 'the Grand Wizard' (after the KKK title).

That hospital closed long ago. It had a horrible record and reputation. I remember it saw so many gun shot victims military Drs would train there.

Gee, this thread has been up 2 days, and not one liberal poster has stepped up to defend a fellow traveler. I suppose if you can't defend the indefensible, the next best option is to ignore it and hope it goes away.

Rudy put Crazy Maxie on blast

“And boy they are switching fast and the Democrats are running for cover,” he said. “You don’t hear them say the words impeachment anymore, I challenge Maxine Waters to say impeachment!”

“Say it, say impeachment, sweetheart, just say it!” he added.”
