EXCELLENT.

Now all the homeless people forming tent cities in LA, San Fran etc. and leaving human feces, drug needles etc. everywhere, will move to Stockton instead.

Who said government can't solve problems?

Only if they stop reading at people getting $500 and don't read that it only applies to 100 people. It could happen.

Jefferson led all Alabama counties in job growth from 2017 projects, with 2,200 anticipated jobs. Rural Dallas County led in new capital investment in 2017, with $556.2 million.
Alabama attracted foreign direct investment from 16 different countries, generating 3,391 new and future jobs, as well as more than $1.2 billion in investment. South Korea was the top source for jobs, with 1,216 anticipated positions.

Already in 2018, the state has landed major projects including a Toyota-Mazda auto assembly plant that will create 4,000 jobs in Huntsville and a Kimber firearms factory that will create 366 jobs in Troy.

Last year, Remington moved here.....

Yeah, Natalie469 lives in caricature land, when it comes to having knowledge of flyover land. I know Alabama well. The deep rural areas do have some grinding poverty and little in way of opportunities. Even Dallas County while rural, is close enough to Montgomery and more importantly I-65, as it traverses the state from Birmingham to Montgomery.

No. That's not what I meant. Universal basic income is a concept designed to cover the basics of life. 500 bucks? In California? That's a joke. Not even worth the experiment. Unless maybe they gave it to the elderly who already had social security and Medicare.

And I don't think needy people are silly. I've been one in my youth. It's just that $500 is more likely to fly out the window than really impact quality of life in California.

Agreed, but you'd think that since HSV has the highest per capita engineers.....people would understand that all of AL is doing pretty good....even with the problems we do have. Well, at least AL has not issued poop maps to get around the city....

These commie socialist schemes never work because there is no productive endeavor providing the funds.

This is just like the same schemes that people like Jeffrey Sachs (left-wing economist turned mental health professional from the recent thread about him calling Trump delusional) propose, except that he wants his globalist giveaway schemes on a global scale of hundreds of billions of dollars per year.

But even these micro-theft schemes will never work. Stealing from productive people to give to the moochers is never going to have any positive impact. It can't. You don't get more productivity, you get less. You don't get more confidence in the economy you get less...you don't get a better work ethic, you get worse ones, etc.

Investing in Human Capital ...

International: World Bank releases draft report supporting basic income

Quote:
The World Bank has released a draft report, published on the 20th of April, titled “The changing nature of work”, in which basic income is suggested as policy to “be read through the lens of ‘progressive universalism’”. This progress to a universal system should depend, according to World Bank analysts, on “basic social insurance” and also on a reliance on “flexible labour markets”, in a relationship that would not do without, though, targeting social assistance schemes.
From Report

Why Governments Need to Invest

"118.0 Polish-French scientist Marie Curie said, "You cannot hope to build a better world without improving the individuals." Governments need to support investing in human capital when individuals and families under invest. Many disadvantaged families cannot afford to invest in better health and education for their children even when they want to. This is clearly seen in how families spend their money once budget constraints are even slightly relaxed. In Sierra Leone, only 3-4 months after the introduction of public works, participating families significantly increased their spending on health services, especially for children."
