When people get bullied them often push back. Human nature.
Cause and effect...

Trump didn't just randomly decide to pick on the NFL one day. He responded to a few players' disrespectfully kneeling during the anthem, an act which, in and of itself is divisive considering we all belong to the same country.

Did they not attend simply because Obama was the president?

Eagles Fan Watters: Philadelphia 'Tried a Trick Play, Trump Snuffed It Out' | Fox News Insider

"Days before the event was to happen, the Eagles reportedly reduced the number of attendees to a few players, coaches and Swoop the mascot. The team also reportedly tried to change the date to one when Trump is scheduled to be in Singapore with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un."

Trump judged the Eagles to be playing a game with him, and he decided to play them back. You may think it's petty, but isn't it also petty for a football team to be making a political statement like this? They had no intention of wanting to visit the White House or meet with Trump. Their goal was to make Trump look bad.
And now the rest of the story. It would have served Trump better had he just explained this to begin with.

But, he will be a blessing to comedians, for a long time to come. His name will become a synonym for someone who occupies the lowest level of integrity and decency.

Another entry into our lexicon will be "Trumpkin", describing low-information, sheep-like people, who are drawn to the worst possible leaders and then blindly follow them. An interesting project, would be to profile a large sample of these followers and probably find many other bad choices they'd made in their lives.
Also "Trumpies". As in "Moonies". Mindless cult followers of a phony baloney con man.

Yes. It has been stated and linked to multiple times on this thread or the other NFL thread.

Considering that only about 10 Eagles were going to show up, Trump made the right call, cancelling the entire dog & pony show. Trump wins, again.

The Eagles opened mini-camp. So they were actually taking a day off of work to go to D.C. Many are already rescheduling another day for that.

And yet this 'con man' as you call him, beat Crooked Hillary, the media, and a billion dollars in campaign contributions. What does that say about Hillary Clinton??

If Trump thought he had sniffed out a trick, he would have been tweeting about it all day.

That's not a story, it's an opinion.
