Trump's blaming Canada - whether or not one considers it completely independent from Great Britain - for burning the White House 200 years ago is akin to anyone blaming current-day Jews for crucifying Jesus 2000 years ago. The present has no connection with the past.

In reality it had nothing to do with the Battle of Bladensburg or Major General Robert Ross.

We were already annoyed that you threw our tea in to the sea, but stealing our beer as well was just beyond the pale.
To be perfectly blunt, we had every intention of keeping Whitehaven.... until we tasted that beer!

At least 37 different news websites are now reporting this as credible.

Trump was referring to the War of 1812, Canada didn't exist until 1867. Trump has already admitted he makes stuff up.

Yep alienating our allies is always a good idea.

With the flawed logic that Canada = Great Britain during the War of 1812, I suppose us Americans are also responsible for nearly of GB's actions taken before Americans declared independence.

It would be plain silly. The same way it is silly to claim Canada burned down the White House.

Please just admit the President isn't as smart as you think he is. But by doing so, it would require a moment of self-reflection to realize you got fooled by this man. Instead, I expect more explanations on how much of a genius he is. So, please do go on.

I just saw it in the Toronto Star. It also said that the CBC confirmed the CNN report.

Nobody was outraged except Jim Acosta and his Resistanceā„¢ trolls.

I'm late to this thread but HOLY SH-T, people are this deranged over an obvious joke?

Scott Adams was right - 30% of people are born without a sense of humor!
