1) She could have won but got lazy down the stretch thinking it was in the bag. I suspect some of her supporters in swing states didn't even go to the polls thinking it didn't matter.
2) She's generally unlikeable and uncharismatic.
3) Black voters were unmotivated by her in large part because of the bitter 2008 primary where negative opinions were formed.
4) Both parties have abandoned blue collar USA, with Hillary and her supporters going so far as to call them deplorables and mocking their lack of education etc. In desperation, they voted "outsider".
Or sneezy. Seemed like a lot of medical issues and age related deterioration not being able to keep up with the rigors of the campaign.
As for your complaint, that's like saying Cleveland lost because not every basket is considered equal...even though those are the accepted rules by all participants and strategies are built accordingly.
Good analogy.
Hillary hit more 2 point baskets but Trumps 3 pointers sunk her in the last 60 seconds.
Sure, but it can't be said that she lost due to her policies.
The main thing that hurt her IMO was support of NAFTA and TPP didn't help with blue collar types, especially the ones that got their jobs off-shored over the past 15+ years.
I specifically note this because she knew this was hurting her and tried to reverse course at times during her campaign.
Ditto for supporting illegal corporate "on shoring" which also causes blue collar wage suppression.
Those are the only 2 that really stick out in my head.
In the context of all votes not being equal, yes. But overall as a country, Trump's win didn't represent what the country wanted.
And again, why would we assume that because most people want something, that its right? Mob rule isn't a solution to complex issues, especially considering the horrific results our educational system produces. Lots of people don't understand what they are voting for other than the letter D o R.
I don't think all the extra votes that Hillary got, can be put down to that - the system is specifically intended that all votes aren't equal, if I'm reading it right.
That's not my point though. My point is that claims that Hillary lost because of reason A, or Reason B, ignore the simple fact, that more votes doesn't mean victory.
Trump would have campaigned differently were the contest for the popular vote.
Assuming that Hillary would have collected more votes than Trump under different rules is just speculation.

So I guess you favour the Chinese model of governance then?
