Soon after it was founded, the EPA began a photo project called Documerica that captured more than 81,000 images showing what the US looked like from 1971 to 1977. More than 20,000 photos were archived, and at least 15,000 have been digitized by the National Archives.
Well, alot of the manufacturing and production went to places like Taiwan too, so that had a huge impact on the haze, all they did was move the haze to another area though.

No one has to say anything to make Trump look bad. He does that to himself every single day with crap like this. The dangers of asbestos is well documented and accepted and anyone who thumbs their noses at that are the ignorant ones.
Well Trump is right as asbestos sits it is safe but installing it and worse taking it down is when the fibers are released and can get into your lungs.
Lead paint is a problem but only when it starts chipping and kids/ animals eat it or a paint crew doesn't know what they are doing and starts sanding it letting the dust spread around.
There are many products out there that are safe but potentially deadly if left to deteriorate or are mishandled.

Can you get sick from Asbestos sure, long time exposure, mining it for a JOB and or Demo construction etc over and over and over again and inhaling large amounts of it over time. One demo job with Asbestos is not going to give you cancer! But that was the scare told to everyone.

If regulated in some products it can used in some instances. Banning it completely is just stupid and all EPA guidelines usually go over board on its banning process.

No, people weren't and aren't instantly dropping dead upon exposure. Asbestos takes its sweet time to kill. And the manner in which is kills is not a very nice way to go at all, to put it mildly.
